My preferred code editor is Notepad++ and htmlTidy is simply invaluable. If ever there was an environment that needed code cleanup, it's Visualforce. Visualforce and APEX is the programming language of Salesforce. Thanks.

Thanks for the feature request... now so long ago... sorry for the delay...

Tidy source has moved on to https://github.com/htacg/tidy-html5, site to http://www.html-tidy.org/

I am afraid I do not know much about Visualforce/APEX, so do not know what tags they added that are not in HTML5... But in general Tidy follows the W3C guidelines on HTML, so unless these additions are approved by the W3C, then it would be unlikely that Tidy would be extended to support them...

Tidy does have some options to add additional new tags, like new-blocklevel-tags, new-empty-tags, new-inline-tags, new-pre-tags that could maybe used...

However, if you want to persue this, or find another tidy bug, or feature request, then please file an issue, together with sample html and config used, and if you find, fix, and test the feature in a tidy fork then you can issue a Pull Request. Always appreciated... thanks...

    Tidy needs your support...

Meantime closing this here as out-of-date...
