I figured it out. I downloaded the source code and discovered the command line is expecting -viewonly=yes, not =1.

I agree. Being able to copy/paste from a remote window is basic stuff. It's really needed. I saw on another feature request that TightVNC DOES support a shared clipboard but I haven't been able to make it work and I don't see any sort of checkbox to enable/disable the feature. If it's supposedt to allow copy/paste to work between systems it's not working.

I think you can close: Windows 11 hides the tray icons automatically and they have to be enabled manually in the taskbar settings, it seems 🙄

Oh, right ! It is the timeouts that are set! And I think they should not. I am willing to bet such is your problem (and mine) rather than the keep-alive I think keep-alive is more for the routing equipment in-between.

I made tests with modified viewer code which sends XK_Caps_Lock 0xFFE5. The server ignores it and no "C" char injected.

Hi Anton, Thanks for checking this. The Tight VNC client won't send CapsLock to the server. You have to try with other clients. I'm testing with our VNC client: https://www.remotespark.com/view/vnc.html Our VNC client works good with old versions of TightVNC (tested several years ago), and other VNC servers (Ultra, Tiger, Real, VMWare etc) with different keyboard extensions.

There are a couple of ways around this issue. One way is to use a dummy plug. That's the method I prefer. Another way, which is a workaround, is to "break" the ACPI lid driver by installing a non-functional driver in its place. Hi! We made a fix for this issue in commercial version and I will add it to open source one. DWORD WTS::getProcessSessionId(LogWriter* log) { DWORD id; ProcessIdToSessionId(GetCurrentProcessId(), &id); return id; } Several our commercial clients use "connect to RDP" mode but we don't have enough feedback and we don't understand very well what task is being solved with such a connection.

No, it doesn't. It should be enabled and this helps in a large percentage of cases. Let's say that it's also worth setting the OS's default timer to about 5 minutes or less.

I think I had checked that and it was. The connection might be dropped some other way ? It seems to happen more on small bandwidth.

The two-way clipboard in TightVNC does not work (copy/paste between your and the remote machine does not work, it only works one way. The latest version at the moment is 2.8.85, I tried older versions, it does not help, what is the reason and how can I fix it? Thank you!

PS.: I know, it is not a huge bug, but it can be very very VERY annoying after a while, if you are distracted all the time, because your eye is trained to watch and catch any screen changes near the bottom-right notification area. Especially if you are looking at your PC 16 hours / day. (And no, hiding the icon is not a "solution"... )

If anyone else finds this thread. UltraVNC 1.5.0.4+ dev version is now able to handle WayVNC protocol too, so connect to RPi OS with it's viewer.

This feature would still be highly appreciated. RealVNC already supports audio, alas via proprietary protocol extensions. But standard protocol supports audio as well (https://github.com/rfbproto/rfbproto/blob/master/rfbproto.rst#qemu-audio-client-message). Unfortunately, the standard protocol is limited to uncompressed audio. Maybe this would be a great opportunity for a protocol enhancement request?

I'm having the same black-screen problem when the lid on the laptop is closed. I'm using the service. This problem does not occur with UltraVNC, but UltraVNC does not properly render the Windows 10 Start Menu, or interaction with the Notification sidebar.

the solution if it can help was, the using wireboard keyboadserver to type form my PD threw VNC on my smartphone in desktopview... something went wrong... with copy/past... I use the new version of VNC, and no need anymore of wireboard

This is still an issue. When I have a session open I must copy twice when in Excel. Was there a fix made? I can confirm that Copying items twice works, it is just a pain when I make lots of copy/paste inputs in Excel.

bump scrolling is useful when you're dragging a file across windows. Much easier than any mouse button/wheel gymnastics. I'd second that except I don't know why you'd want a "bump" vs a normal scrolling capability. Anytime you have vertical scrollbars on your TVNC session you should be able to use the scrollwheel on your trackball, touchpad, mouse or other device.

I agree as well! Can't believe even after 5 years they haven't added an option so that we can select if the alt-tab (special key) should be passed to the VNC server or not. RealVNC is the only VNC viewer that provides this option so that's the reason I have to use realVNC instead of tightVNC!
