Hello,
After an update of Windows 10, it is not possible to see the screen if the screen is either physically turned off or by the save screen.
Do you have a remedy for this ?
Thank you
Patrice

    Hi,

This same problem is happening to me since this Windows 10 update, and I had to stop using TightVNC after years of flawless operation.
Is it possible to solve this problem?

    Thanks a lot!
    Teo

What versions of TightVNC are running on the hosts with this issue? I have experienced these black screens too under Win10.

In my case it happens with every version of TightVNC I tested (at least from 2.8.27 but also earlier for sure).
Currently both the server and viewer are the up to date version 2.8.59, and the black screen is still there. :-(

Hello, I have the same problem (black screen), on three machines, Windows 10, no monitor attached. If I connect the monitor, I get the correct image. I have installed 2.8.59.

Hi, had the same after Upgrade to WIN10 21H1. With WIN10 1903 and VNC 2.8.5.9 worked all fine

Try activating the TightVNC Server on the host as service .
I had the same black-screen problem when running the TightVNC Server "on demand".
I changed the TightVNC Server to a Service and it worked fine.

TightVNC configuration ---> Server --> Update Handling --> Use D3D driver if available.
    Uncheck it.

I'm having the same black-screen problem when the lid on the laptop is closed. I'm using the service. This problem does not occur with UltraVNC, but UltraVNC does not properly render the Windows 10 Start Menu, or interaction with the Notification sidebar.
