Hi, Just played around with the beta a little and found a small bug. In the data window, if you create a selection box (drag while holding the mouse button), you can scroll horizontally. Also, is the scanner supposed to be checking character name to the log file? I thought it did. One of my mystic files got mixed in with my fighter and it scanned in the mystic training. The "lag" is (mostly) it bulding the debug pane, which it was inadvertently doing twice. Do a checkout and try it now (you can compile from CVS yes?) - there will still probably be a lag when it displays the view you are in, but nowhere near as long unless you switch to the debug view. I will add a status display to the window for the "view building" process which takes a while on slower macs and with lots of data. There probably still is the main memory leak. Spotlight reported (a logfile of *800k* - log entries, not data leaked) full of leaks after i quit the app, but i think most of them are red herrings. Here is the log: http://freepages.sf.rootsweb.com/~bhines/debuglog.txt I am not sure if all those STL leaks are real. Can someone more familiar with memory management and usage of STL help? Well, I increased the memory to over twice what was recommended, and it seemed to work okay. However, after it was finished scanning, it took a LONG time (okay, about 2 minutes) before it allowed me to see the data. No feedback, like a clockwatch icon, was telling me that it hadn't froze. Also, look at the attached. On one picture, Merlisk's share info isn't calculated. On the other, Merlisk appears to have fallen to a "me, Vagile?" and other oddly named creatures. Feature Request --------------- I would very much like to be able to alter my stats. Why? Well, I *know* I have Max Body and 100 Spiritus because of the messages I get. However, I only appear to have 99 in each per Scribia. I don't know if I've lost the text logs or it read them incorrectly, but I'd like to be able to correct them. Thanks! Hi, I through together a website for scribia quick tonight. At least a rough draft of the front page. None of the links work except for the download and the news items. The rest just go to a temp page that says coming soon. I have it up right now at http://homepage.mac.com/cygnus/scribia/ Let me know if you like it or not and anything that should be added/delete/changed. Few notes of what I was thinking would be added: About button would just be a page listing what the project is. Basically, a listing like the abstract on the source forge page. Manual would have a reference on how to use Scribia. If someone wants to start documenting the functionality and how to use it, please do. =) Is there any docs on using it yet? I should probably look through the beta release. Download will link to the current build. Something that we'll have to keep updating unless we use a generic name for the download file. Contribute button will give info on how to join up if someone want to help out with the development. For the contact button, I was thinking of just making it a mailto link to this list. Does that sound good or should there be a separate page listing out multiple contact points? If the later, what contacts should be listed? The news list right is just a cut and paste from the source forge project site. According to the site faq, its possible to have your subdomain web page automatically show the project's news (as well as a few other items). It didn't seem hard to set up the file on the server to do the update, I just didn't really understand what to put in the html page to connect the two. Its probably fairly easy, but at 3 in the morning its not making much sense to me. =) I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Anyone ever done this before? Below is what Inside Mac says about LongDateTime. Does that help? What went
wrong with the conversion?
LONG DATE-TIME VALUE AND LONG DATE-TIME CONVERSION RECORD
The long date-time value specifies the date and time as seconds relative to
midnight, January 1, 1904. But where the standard date-time value is an
unsigned, 32-bit long integer, the long date-time value is a signed, 64-bit
integer in SANE comp format. This format lets you use dates and times with =
a
much longer span=8Broughly 500 billion years. You can use this value to
represent dates and times prior to midnight, January 1, 1904. The
LongDateTime data type defines the long date-time value.
TYPE LongDateTime =3D comp;
When storing a long date-time value in files, you can use a 5-byte or 6-byt=
e
format for a range of roughly 35,000 years. You should sign extend this
value to restore it to a comp format.
The Date, Time, and Measurement Utilities provide the LongDateCvt record to
help in setting up LongDateTime values.
TYPE LongDateCvt=3D
RECORD
CASE Integer OF
0:
(c: comp); {number of seconds relative to }
{ midnight, January 1, 1904}
1:
(lHigh: LongInt; {high long integer}
lLow: LongInt); {low long integer}
END;
Field Descriptions
c The date and time, specified in seconds relative to midnight, January
1, 1904, as a signed, 64-bit integer in SANE comp format. The high-order bi=
t
of this field represents the sign of the 64-bit integer. Negative values
allow you to indicate dates and times prior to midnight, January 1, 1904.
lHigh The high-order 32 bits when converting from a standard date-time
value. Set this field to 0.
lLow The low-order 32 bits when converting from a standard date-time
value. Set this field to the standard date-time value representing the tota=
l
number of seconds since midnight, January 1, 1904.

I think i prefer it how it is.. Things on the left hand side in a table should be "variable" things such as player names, beast names and item names. Experience types seem more static. The "money view" i think violates this, but i was thinking that skinners would be listed in the left hand column. Are they tracked? The logs i scan dont show any there. (example: Bones skins the fur, worth 20c. Bones listed in view) I could add new experience types to the GUI in about 30 seconds, in any case... A few clicks in Constructor, and two lines of code in the class. Hi, I think we have made enough progress since the last release (and overall) to bump the next release up to 0.2.0-beta. Thanks everyone, especially Ben for all the GUI work! Here's a list of little things I think we could address before releasing 0.2.0, in order of decreasing importance (in my head, at least): - redraw bug in items view (see attached image) - fix white background of table text: make platinum grey used for view - fix clanning times (how hard is this?) - add trainer evaluation column to the trainings view - move experience table to its own view, and make it a regular table (maybe?) Anything else? -- Lark <lar...@ya...> |

I can't compile:
Error : undefined identifier 'StProfileSection'
CScribiaDoc.cp line 641 StProfileSection
theProfile("\pScribia.prof", 32000, 32000);
Error : undefined identifier 'ClearTable'
CScribiaDoc.cp line 847 theTable->ClearTable();
Also, I noticed a scrolling/resizing drawing bug in the money pane (I
think) - maybe that's already fixed with your latest round of updates
though.

Yes, we can, and it isn't even hard. I'll put it in sometime this
week when I'm less busy.

This is hard, because for older karma messages, figuring out where
the exile name ends and where the explanation begins is hard (=
expensive in terms of cycles).

Yes - someone send me the log strings! :-)

Excellent idea! Build-your-own view.

This sounds like a good project for someone looking to get their feet
wet with the code :-)

Checked in some more mods. Karma view. "other" view. Debug view only built on demand, which makes life faster. See the logs. Very little is not in the GUI now, mostly becuase i wasnt sure where to put it. A request for lark (miss (mr? who knows!) bison/flex): Can we track what item we sold to the exiles who have "Items Sold to" and "items bought from" values? (might need a new map for that) If we do that, i can put the list of exiles and prices in a disclosure triangle in the items view after each item. I'm not sure where in the GUI to fit in a general list of exiles and how many items we sold to them, other than the new "Other" view. Also, if we can figure out how to record per-exile reasons for good and bad karma, i can do something similar in the karma view. Also, for the mystics, i think we can track "boosts-outgoing and seeks-outgoing." Perhaps also teleports and other stuff. I also have another idea, which i got from another mac app (Reunion) - a custom view, with all exiles listed. The column headings are menus containing each thing we track for exiles. The user chooses what they want to see in each column. I am thinking this would be in addition to the other preset views, or perhaps each view would be preset to the columns they are now, but also flexible with the menu. Also, i think an "Export" feature to tab or comma-delimited might be useful and easy to implement.. just some slight mods to the debug window code to stream it out. -Ben -- NOTE: Please change my address in your address book from bh...@sa... to bh...@al... as my UCSD address will be permanent. <http://freepages.sf.rootsweb.com/~bhines/> - My Genealogy Pages |
