The "lag" is (mostly) it bulding the debug pane, which it was 
inadvertently doing twice. Do a checkout and try it now (you can 
compile from CVS yes?) - there will still probably be a lag when it 
displays the view you are in, but nowhere near as long unless you 
switch to the debug view. I will add a status display to the window 
for the "view building" process which takes a while on slower macs 
and with lots of data.

There probably still is the main memory leak. Spotlight reported (a 
logfile of *800k* - log entries, not data leaked) full of leaks after 
i quit the app, but i think most of them are red herrings. Here is

I am not sure if all those STL leaks are real. Can someone more 
familiar with memory management and usage of STL help? (if you havent 
noticed, i've been using scribia to teach myself STL. So, i may have 
done things incorrectly or not in the most efficient manner)

That is planned. Try clicking on one of the numbers, you will notice 
it turns into an edit field.  Nothing you type is saved though.
