hugin: 0.8.0 released

Hugin is a panorama stitcher and more.

Changes since 0.7.0

The last release in October 2008 introduced major changes to the way
hugin worked. Although this new release looks and feels much the
same as 0.7.0, it adds some great new features and makes a lot of
small improvements:

Fast Preview window

A new Fast Preview window has been added, this uses OpenGL graphics
acceleration to show changes as they happen. You can drag photos
around the window and they will warp to their new positions in
real-time. Everything else you need to turn, pan and crop your
panorama can now be done interactively in the Fast Preview.... read more

libpano13-2.9.14 released

This release adds a number of new input and output projections, a new command-line tool, documentation, cleanups and bugfixes.

Note that hugin-0.8.0 will require this version of libpano13. Note also that the soname has changed, so both hugin and autopano-sift-C will need to be rebuilt to link to this library.

freepv-0.3.0 released

FreePV 0.3.0 has been released:

FreePV is a viewer for QuickTime (QTVR), SPiV, cylindrical, cubic and cylindrical panoramas. The package provides a standalone panorama viewer and a Firefox/Mozilla plugin.

A source tarball equivalent to svn161 can be downloaded from Sourceforge:

Five students accepted for Google Summer of Code

* James Legg of Fast Preview fame will tackle the Layout Panorama Model mentored by Bruno Postle, improving the handling of stacks.
* Tim Nugent of Celeste fame will tackle Straight Line Detection for Lens Calibration mentored by Tom Sharpless, improving the handling of fisheye lenses.
* Lukáš Jirkovský, too young in 2008, has become a significant contributor to our community over the past year and will tackle Ghost Removal for Enfuse, mentored by Andrew Mihal.
* Dev Ghosh will add Mosaic Mode to Hugin/Panotools, mentored by Daniel German.
* Last but not least Yulia Kotseruba will add functionality like multiple blending to Lighttwist, mentored by Sébastien Roy.

panini-0.61 released

panini is an OpenGL panorama viewer and interactive tool for creating perspective views of panoramas, previously known as pvqt. This release adds support for the new 'pannini' projection allowing the creation of amazing vedutismo style images.

Hugin has changed enormously in the two years since the 0.6.1 release, hardly any part of the code has remained untouched. There have been many many bug-fixes, improvements to the interface and lots of new features.
