You can't, and you don't have to. You can put points or signs on a 3D splot just as easily as you could to a 2D plot. |

Dear Supporter, I'm wonder whether I can splot a pm3d map and plot at the same time, so that I can put points or signs to a map plot, as it would be a regular 2D plotting. Is it possible with gnuplot? I don't find any documentation about it. I would be grateful if You could help me. Hi! You have several ways to do that. The results depends on the terminal you are using (X11, postscript, etc), and how it is configurated, but you can try with: gnuplot> splot f(x,y) w lines lt NN or gnuplot> splot f(x,y) w lines lc NN where NN is an integer. Try to plot a test of your terminal to see what NN is the best for you: gnuplot> test Another way is by using the PM3D library. gnuplot> set pm3d gnuplot> splot f(x,y) w lines lt palette Additional information can be obtained here: gnuplot> help pm3d gnuplot> help linetype gnuplot> help plot Bye! Hello together, It is maybe a stupid question. But how can I change the color in my plots. I know how to change the line- and surface style ( splot f(x,y) with lines title "Density distribution f(x,y)") I think a red colored mesh net for a 3D surface doesn't look very nice. Thanks in advance. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Change-the-color-in-gnuplot-version-4.0-tf3257594.html#a9056923 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

For the grid, try "set grid", and to get only the x-y axis, try "set border 3" (using the correct xrange and yrange). Of course, grid also has options like linetype and linewidth. The arrows on the axis are a little trickier, in fact, I don't know an elegant way to do it. One possibility is to simply use the arrow command, like: set arrow from 0,0 to xmax,0 lw 2 set arrow from 0,0 to 0,ymax lw 2 However, this requires that you set the limits manually. Let me know if this is what you wanted, Till |

Of course there is. Somebody already wrote that program for you. It's called 'paste', and should be available in a friendly Unix toolbox near you: plot "< paste xfile.dat yfile_5.dat" |

The graph of f(a,b,c,d,e,f) would be a 7-dimensional surface, depending from the 6 variables you'd like to use. Since humans usually see 3-dimensional, gnuplot only support 2 variables maximum: f(x,y) [or - when in parametric mode, ususally f(u,v)]. You may use unlimited much parameters within mathematical equations: a=1 b=2 c= 3 ... f(x,y) = a*x + b*y + c*x**2 + d*y**2 + e*x*y ... Regards Lars |

Hi all,
=20
Is there actually a solution for increasing the number of parameters in
a function?
When for example when one has=20
=20
gnuplot> f (a,b,c,d,e,f) =3D a + b + c + d + e + f
^
GNUPLOT returns "function contains too many parameters"

Hi, I have some questions regarding histogram and errorbars. I´m using gnuplot 4.2 under debian. The following is my testfile #testfile abc A sa B sb C sc a 5 1 7 0.5 4 1 b 3 1.5 6 1 3 0.25 c 2 0.5 4 1 6 1 as long as I plot the data with the following commands everything is perfect gnuplot> set style data histogram gnuplot> set style histogram errorbars gap 1 gnuplot> plot "testfile" u 2:3:xticlabels(1) ti col, "" u 4:5 ti col, "" u 6:7 ti col but with set style fill pattern 1 the errorbars (the low ones) are "behind" the histogram boxes. Is it possible to make the lowerrorbars visible? Thx for your help. |

Hi, I am wandering how I would plt a simple x-y plot where I have the x data in one column of file1.txt and the y data in file2.txt. I.e. the x-data do not change and I have 100s of different y-datafiles. To save memory, I only saved the x-data once. I am using Gnuplot 4.0. I did already look into help plot -> datafile -> sepcial but could not find a solution. I know I could write a simple c-program to read-in data, save the 2 columns of interest in a dummy file and plot this one, however, I was wandering if there is a simpler way. (Perhaps with sed or awk in the plot file?). I am not familiar with these linux commands Thanks a lot for your help Cheers Thomas |

In principle, you can do any kind of line graphics with gnuplot, but it is only practical if you have the paths either in functional or tabulated form. To create 2D illustrations by hand, I would recommend using a program such as xfig instead. Cheers Till |
