[Gnuplot-info] creating "high school" style graphs

I want to plot functions in "American High School" style, for want of a bet=
ter term.=0AHere is what a typical plot in this style would look like. The =
x-axis (y=3D0) and the y-axis =0A(x=3D0) are thicker than the other grid li=
nes, and they have arrow heads pointing right and =0Aup, respectively. The =
labels 'x' and 'y'  are placed next to the arrow heads. Axis labels, =0Aif =
present, are placed on the coordinate axes, not along the sides of the grid=
