Dear all, I just realised that version 4.2 is out! My congratulations! Another milestone in this fantastic project. Hence I read in the changelog about the new wxt terminal. But when I try to set it (set terminal wxt) I receive an error. The list of terminals also does not show this one. I guess I'm missing something, obviously. Is this terminal (maybe) not available on win32? With best regards, Morten. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/wxt-terminal-in-4.2--tf3404686.html#a9482934 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

You shouldn't still be using this way of changing the size of the output
any more. See 'help gif'.

If so, that's because either your y axis data starts within one tick
interval from zero, or you have a 'set yrange [0:*]' command somewhere
you didn't tell us about.\

gnuplot defaults to almost that behaviour. For the details, see 'help
autoscale'.

Hi,
Im trying to plot from a file and everything works fine.
here is an example of what im trying to plot:
set term gif
set size 1.5, 1.0
set data style linespoints
set output 'C:\Temp\graph0.png'
set title ''
set xlabel 'Xs'
set ylabel 'Ys'
plot 'C:\Temp\fileinfo0' using 1:2 title 'Legends!'
The plot is a 2D graph and the file ('C:\Temp\fileinfo0') is tabbed
delimited. The problem Im having is that every plot has the y-axis
starting at 0 . Is there a way to set the y-axis so that it starts at
the lowest y-value?
Thanks!

You just tripped over a documented aspect of gnuplot's datafile you didn't expect. > So, why Gnuplot plots a triangle in this particular case ? Look up "help datafile" and "help glossary" to learn about grid-structured data files. You generated a surface grid by accident, when you really wanted to draw isolated lines. Doubling your blank lines will change that. |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Could you please help us ? It seems that we found a bug while using splot with linespoints. It can be seen with the second of the two attached (gzipped) files. The problem we solved is the building and consequent separating the Minimal Spanning Tree (MST). There is only one MST connecting a number of points (here, in our example, on the sphere), which connects all the points, have minimal length and no loops. The built MST is OK (see the first file, "splot 'mst.data_MC.0.output' w linespoints"). However, when the tree is separated (edges longer than the average edge length are removed), some of the resulting subtrees are drawn with loops. As an example, there is a triangle (i.e. a loop-like structure) formed by the points 0.127579 -0.187542 -0.973936 0.119599 -0.195573 -0.973369 0.148943 -0.139136 -0.979008 However, in the second output file there are only two out of three triangle edges, as it should be: 0.127579 -0.187542 -0.973936 0.119599 -0.195573 -0.973369 0.127579 -0.187542 -0.973936 0.148943 -0.139136 -0.979008 So, why Gnuplot plots a triangle in this particular case ? Thank you very much in advance for your answer ! I recently installed Version4.0 PatchLevel 0 on my Windows XP machine. When running wgnuplot.exe, everything appears to work ok, except that the font size in the command window (NOT plotting windows) is so incredibly tiny that all the text appears as 2x4 pixel blobs and is completely unreadable. This makes it VERY hard to learn about the program by playing around, since I can't read any of its replies. I have set the GNUPLOT_FONTPATH envrionment variable as mentioned in the README.Windows file (even though I suspect it refers only to plot window fonts), and have also installed a WGNUPLOT.INI example I found somewhere in the documentation, but nothing helps. I am tearing my hair out over this! |

Go to the directory you used to install gnuplot. There, as root, type "make distclean" or "make uninstall" (i don't remember which of both option= s works for gnuplot 4.0). However, it is not so bad to have some programs installed without using the package/software management, so let me recommed you not to unistall gnuplot 4.0 and reinstall it from the mandriva package mgnt. It will be better to upgrade to gnuplot4.2-rc, available from the gnuplot home page and with a lot of new features. Bye. > Is there such a thing?? That's sorta obvious, isn't it? You'll have to uninstall it using a method that matches how you installed it in the first place. > So, my question is, how can I uninstall this program? So first, we could define the function "max" as: gnuplot> max(x,y)=3D(x>y?x:y) In this case, if x>y it the result will be x, otherwise y. Then we could use this funciton to analize the data: gnuplot> plot 'mydatafile.dat' u 1:(max($2,$3)) w p This statment will plot a graph with points using the contents of column 1 as the x-axis, and the max value between columns 2 and 3 for the y axis. Dear All, I would like to if it is possible in gnuplot to define a function (using ternany operator) whose values are the result of some operations on the data stored in a given data-file. Any info will be highly appreciated. Best regards from Tatjana. |

Hi,
I recently installed the gnuplot version 4.0 on my computer. I have the
Mandriva 2007 linux which I am totally a newbie. The gnuplot file that I
installed came in as a *.tar.gz and not a *.rpm file. I installed it
successfully and the program worked fine. Then I just realized I was
supposed to install it as a package .rpm file! Otherwise I won't be able to
uninstall it using the package management feature in Mandriva. Right now,
the package/software management doesn't even know the gnuplot program is
installed.
So, my question is, how can I uninstall this program? Can I use "make
uninstall" ??? Is there such a thing?? I hope I don't have to format the
hard drive to uninstall it.
Thank you so much for your response.
Eric

You'll have to do that almost entirely by hand: 1) turn off the bottom border --> "help set border" 2) write a function to map from "real" values to graphical positions 3) use a long-form 'set xtics' statement to produce the re-mapped ticks 4) use the mapping function to modify all x values in passing 5) use "set arrow" commands to draw the two parts of the broken axis Example: newx(x) = (x<=100) ? x : (x>=1000) ? (x-1000)/10+110 : 0/0 set xtics (0, 50, 100, '1000' newx(1000), '1500' newx(1500)) set param set trange [10:1700] ; set samples 200 set xrange [newx(10):newx(1700)] set log y set arrow from newx(10), graph 0 to newx(100), graph 0 nohead set arrow from newx(1000), graph 0 to newx(1700), graph 0 nohead plot newx(t), (newx(t))**2 title 'y=x^2' |

Dear All, Please, if you could give me some info about how to "break" x-axis in gnuplot in order to avoid large empty region in the graph. Thanks in advance. Regards from Tatjana. |
