I am very new to gnuplot so I don't know the proper terminology for what I want to do, but I'm trying to show a movie of my data. We've generated a data file of positions of particles on a grid. On the mac computer at the lab I use the command gnuplot data.ini data.mvi this takes our data and shows a constantly updating plot that shows our particles moving - it seems to work like a flip book. I have no problem getting it to work on the mac. The computer at my office is a windows computer. I have gnuplot installed on it. When I give the same command as above on my windows computer, the movie starts, but then I have to hit a key to advance to the next frame. I can't get it to show them as a continuous movie. I am using the same data files and .ini and .mvi files that I use on the mac. Is there a different command I have to use in windows/DOS to get the movie to run continuously. My data.ini file contains: iteration_count=0 limit_iterations=12341 my data.mvi file contains if (iteration_count>limit_iterations) exit plot[0:112][0:112] 'fort.20' index iteration_count iteration_count=iteration_count+1 reread where fort.20 is the data file I want to see the movie of. Thanks for any help - Eric |

What you're missing is that your data file should have grid structure, as described in "help glossary" and "help splot datafile". If you want a carpet, your data has to have the structure of one: rows and columns, just like a regular weave. |

Hi. I have a little problem with this datafile I have received. It is in x y z-format. The only 3D I'm getting that the points of the datafile in a 3D-environment, but I want to have the points to "be covered" like a carpet. I'm sorry for the limitations my bad english is causing, but I hope you understand. The datafile is located at http://home.online.no/~f-staus/temp.txt http://home.online.no/~f-staus/temp.txt . It is a datafile from the temperature below ground from 1933, in tis format: days (0-365), depth below ground (in meters) and the temperature itself. I hope you can help me. It seems to be different if the function is ploted rather then using a fixed datafile. -- Christoffer Stausland. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Problem-with-datafile-tf3456129.html#a9642539 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Using the win32 version of GnuPlot, I print to a PDF printer (CutePDF). This saves the print output into a PDF file. But the file is monochrome - is there anyway to tell the win32 version that the printer is color? Shouldn't it be able to figure that out by querying Windows anyway? I'm using the pull down menu from the graph window, selecting "Options", and then "Print...". |

Dear All, Just a note to say thanks to the developers of gnuplot, which I enjoy using regularly in my research and teaching, and to let folk (especially the developers) know that I feature gnuplot extensively as the plotting package used throughout my textbook: Barnsley, M.J., 2007, /Environmental Modeling: A Practical Introduction/, CRC Press, Boca Raton, FL, USA. (see http://stress.swan.ac.uk/~mbarnsle/envmod). I hope that this helps to produce some more converts to gnuplot! Mike Barnsley |

Otherwise, add a "lt <n>" argument to your splot command itself. |

Dear community, I am trying to change the color of the contour in splot (with "unset clabel", as I do not want to label it, neither do I want to change colors from one contour to another) but all I tried did not work. Perhaps you know a solution? If I unset clabel, the color stays red, no matter where I try to set another linetype. I also tried using the awk file label-contours.awk, which I downloaded from the net, but this only allows to handle the 2D contour-plot (map) nicely. Is there any possibility to change the default red-color, if I do not want to change the color for every single contourline? Another minor problem I have is the offset of the x- and y-labels on my axes. They almost interact with the actual axis. What command would I use to change the label offset to the axes? I tried to figure ti out using gnuplot help, but could not find the appropriate section. I am using gnuplot 4.0 and this is an extraction of my code: set terminal postscript enhanced color solid set encoding iso_8859_1 set tics out #unset clabel set contour base set cntrparam bspline set cntrparam points 5 set cntrparam order 4 set pm3d at bs hidden3d 110 set palette rgbformulae 30,31,32 unset hidden3d unset surf set style line 110 lt 9 lw 0.01 set grid splot "20070205_cn2_m.txt" matrix with lines quit Thanks a lot for your help Thomas |

You could have that command stashed away in an auto-start script without remembering it. None of the y-axis values are zero. as a matter of fact, all of them are
above 1e+009 and aside from the datafile, that is the the only commands
im running.

I've tried using 'set autoscale' and 'set autoscale ymin' as well as
other 'set autoscale' but none seem to work. They still display the grid
from 0 instead of the minimum y-value.

The archive (executable) is quite small - so I guess the wx= t driver is not embedded. In the short meantime of our posts I realised another file has been added to sourceforge.net... maybe I was too fast - I'll wait patiently what happens next...
