[Gnuplot-info] Universal 3D export

I failed to find a viable way to convert 3d plots from gnuplot to the Universal 3D (u3d) file format. This would make it possible to include 3d plots via pdfLaTeX and movie15.sty into PDF documents and allow the user to look at the plot from all directions.

If anybody knows about a way to achive this (freeware/open source prefered), I would like to hear about. If not, what's about developing a u3d terminal? Would this be feasible?
