Hello

Please try the following and report results. 
 Right click the title bar of command (text) window and pull the menu.
 Select 'options'-> 'Choose Font'
 You can see font selecting dialog.  Set font as you like.

 Again Right click the title bar of command (text) window and pull the menu.
 Select 'options'-> 'Update (path to wgnuplot.ini)\wgnuplot.ini'.

 Restart wgnuplot.

It is possible to change the application folder but it requires edit the registry so that I do not
recommend to do it.

Although you have not mentioned, I think that you are using wxt terminal, 
which is default terminal for gnuplot 4.4 for windows binary distribution.

For the wxt terminal, wguplot.ini has no effects.  The setting of wgnuplot.ini is only effective for
the windows terminal. 
Unfortunately the wxt terminal does not have position option unlike the current windows or x11
terminals.

Seeing the source code of wxt terminal, it is possible to specify the plot window.
However it requires the source code modification.  
Therefore it is now impossible to control the plot position of wxt terminals.
(It is possible to move plot windows by windows script host (WSH) but it is tricky way, I think.)

For the text windows, the setting of wgnuplot.ini should be effective.
However you have posted the proceeding threads, you post the issue for wgnuplot.ini.

I will reply in the thread.

BTW, I think that it is better that the wxt terminal also have 'position' option like x11 and windows
terminals.

I'm a WinXP user.

I'm trying to change the default window font from "Terminal" to "Courier  
New".

In the manual I found this could be done by specifying "TextFont" in the  
wgnuplot.ini, which is placed in the directory where the system variable  
"AppData" points.

So here is the content of my wgnuplot.ini:

[WGNUPLOT]
TextOrigin=44 44
TextSize=567 460
TextMinimized=0
TextFont=Courier New,10
SysColors=0

The problem is that gnuplot still uses the (default) terminal. What's  
wrong?

I have a "suspicion":

My country is the Czech Republic; that means our language uses diacritics  
in words; and Windows gladly use spaces in file/directory names.

on exit) and use later (when staring).

Or it might be possible to get them somehow from the startup file?

And one more suggestion -

- would it be possible to define some hot-keys for some operations?

Suggestions:

Ctrl+O = "Open..."
Ctrl+R = "Replot"
Ctrl+P = "Print Screen"

[Gnuplot-info] Gnuplot shuts down when loading .gp file

I start wgnuplot.exe and then load a .gp file.
If wgnuplot.exe and loaded .gp file are not in the same directory, gnuplot
shuts down. Simply disappears.

The help file is OK, it´s just a problem with win7 security. You have to
install (copy from archive to /program files) as asministrator, AND remove
the access block win7 puts on the help file afterwards.
Then you can just enter "help" in gnuplot and winhlp32 open the gnuplot
help. Even as non-administrator user.

Perhaps gnuplot really ought to have an installer now.

I rearrange the above (, which includes my suspection because I do not have windows 7 or vista.)

1. logon windows 7 as an administrator
2. go to the folder where gnuplot binaries are saved (e.g. C:\Program Files\gnuplot\binary)
3. pull the context menu by clicking icon of wgnuplot.hlp by right mouse button
4. goto 'properties' tab and REMOVE the access block for wgnuplot.hlp from the securities setting of
windows 7

Winhelp32.exe is 32 bit application so that I do not know it works correctly on 64 bit windows 7.
At least, the bug reporter above could use 'wgnuplot.hlp' on his windows 7 considering the above
description.

I would like to ONLY use certain labels for the plot and not all of it. As
can be seen from the screenshot below setting labels by default sets all the
labels. If there a way to pick and choose which labels one wants to display? 

For labeling I have done for example

label1 = "This is one" 

plot "something.dat" w p title label1

Re: [Gnuplot-info] PNG plots very slow when gnuplot is compiled with WXT terminal

Hello

Perhaps your gnuplot 4.2.5 makes png files by the gd libraries.
While the wxt uses the cairo + pango libraries.

Roughly speaking, the gd gives light graphic handling, while the cairo + pango gives 
sophisticated, and beautififul (antialiasing etcs.) graphic handling but they use more machine
resources than those used by the gd.

However, the speed of wxt terminal are determined by a lot of factors.

You should reveal builiding condition of your gnuplot with wxt terminal in detail.
(Kinf of OS, do you use wxGTK, wxX11, etcs)

I do not know java langauge at all so that I cannot follow what you said in the thread.

But please note that 'wgnuplot.exe' is a native windows application but not cygwin.
It is possible to use windows native application from the cygwin.
However, there might be ristrictions.  I do not know how hard it is.
  
If you are using the cygwin, why do not you to use the cygwin version gnuplot?

is the cygwin version of gnuplot 4.4.

Perhaps the cygwin combination of cygwin applications will make things simpler, I suppose.

[Gnuplot-info] GNuplot-4.4 with Java under Cygwin error

I am using Gnuplot 4.4 in Cygwin under Windows XP.
For this I have downloaded the windows binaries.

Now I wish to plot a chart when a button is pressed in my Java GUI.
For this I cant write the command:
If I write it as
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"
C:/tinyos/cygwin/opt/tinyos-1.x/tools/java/net/tinyos/sim/gnuplot/binary/wgnuplot.exe
\"");

It simply opens up the wgnuplot.exe
But if I write it as
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"C:/tinyos/cygwin/opt/tinyos-1.x/tools/java/net/tinyos/sim/gnuplot/binary/wgnuplot
plot sin(x)\"");

It is wrong and the program gives an exception.

please help me and tell  me what is the exact command to run gnuplot

Before you execute the above, you have to create a shortcut to (w)gnuplot.exe.

  If you the meaning of you a, b, c and z coordinates are as follows:
a - x-coordinate on the plot;
b - y-coordinate;
c - z-coordinate;
z - colour of the plot;
  Than maybe you should just try something as simple as:

splot "data.txt" with pm3d

Or the same thing in a form of terminal command line:

gnuplot -persist -e 'splot "data.txt" with pm3d'

  The only thing you should notice is that your data must have some
king of "breaks" when your x-coordinate changes (or maybe y-coordinate
- I haven't checked). for example:

[Gnuplot-info] PNG plots very slow when gnuplot is compiled with WXT terminal

I have an application which creates small PNG plots (2K - 6K in filesize) in
pseudo-realtime.

On a non-WXT compiled gnuplot (4.2.5) these plots generate in ~100ms.

On a WXT compiled gnuplot (4.2.6 & 4.4.0) these plots take at least twice as
long to generate (>200ms).

For me, 100ms is borderline acceptable.  200ms is not.  However, my app also
has an interactive mode, so I would much prefer using a WXT terminal for
zooming because of its better UI...

Is there any known reason why a wX-widgets compiled gnuplot is 2x slower
when displaying PNG files?  Is there any way to fix this?

I think the current implementation might not be complete.  I
once wanted to put several mouse-able plots in one page, so
I tried to modify the javascript bundled with gnuplot.  I

I haven't finished polishing the code, because I soon
realized some of my audiences use IE exclusively.  The code
should be able to do everything promised in the gnuplot menu
page and you can put several mouse-able plots in one page.
I don't have time to finish the code and integrate it back
into gnuplot.  I hope someone find it useful and wish to do
the hard work to get it included in the main gnuplot
distribution.

The code is a derived work, so shares the same copyright as
gnuplot.  All I did is enclosing all the functions and
variables in reasonably separated closures.  I would like to
help to get it integrated into the main gnuplot
distribution.  I don't know too much about the internals of
gnuplot, but if anyone has question about the bits of
javascript I wrote, please feel free to ask.

hi all,
i was shocked to see that noone has been discussing the amazing new
canvas terminal on the mailing list this month! let's start.

i have a web page which displays the canvas plot and mousing panel
correctly, having loaded the several JS and CSS files which are
provided with gnuplot 4.4.0. the JS executes without errors;
mouse_update() and getMouseCoordsWithinTarget() run, but there are no
updates to the panel, clicking on the buttons similarly does nothing,
and there are no labels drawn on the graph when i click it like the
demo. the only value i've seen panel show for X and Y both is
3.258e+8. well, OK.

what i really want is to make datapoints in the picture clickable.
should i be modifying the emitted HTML to add my own mouseover and
click events to the canvas element? has anyone successfully adapted
the provided JS to do something similar?

torquil,

you can easily set the increment between xtics, and you can set a
fixed number of minor xtics between major ones, but for what you set
out to achieve you might need to write code that calculates the
start,incr,end for that axis or even the specific tic positions that
you want.
