Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros It is easy to install and configure. The reports are completely customizable. Seamless integration with third party applications. It allows us to discover networks, physical and virtual servers easily and import data. It allows visualizing of application dependency mapping. The best feature of Device 42 is that it is highly customizable and flexible in terms of integration with other software programs. The user interface of the software is designed in such a way that it displays all the necessary data in an organized manner. It offers various pre-defined reports and built-in dependency mapping topologies that cut down the input time and increases the overall productivity. Device42 is a great software product that our business team really requires to work on a day to day basis. It is very helpful and really increases productivity. The Room, Rack, and Device model layouts are some of the best features in Device 42. Very much a lightweight Visio for building server rooms, cable diagrams, and rack elevation diagrams for ones IT companies. I like how customizable and versatile of an infrastructure platform Device42 is. The support is better than its peers. Cons Occasionally the system may be slow which can cause decrease in speed of completing tasks. The user interface and the graphics used in the software feels a bit outdated in use. Not many issues specifically with the product or software. There could be some more functionality built into the product. The UI is a bit dated, lacks modern graphic elements like one we need for a pure data center operations. It can feel slow at times/somewhat laggy, due to how central it is. The licensing costs of this product can increase as the number of monitored resources grows and pricing may be challenging for smaller organizations with limited IT budgets, and also in large-scale environments with a high number of monitored applications and resources that situation the dashboard and report generation can occasionally become slower. On the downside, the user interface can feel somewhat dated compared to some newer observability platforms, and configuring advanced monitoring for complex environments may require a learning curve.
