Hello List, I am trying to configure webmin to allow users from our LDAP to login = with their LDAP username and password. I=B4ve installed Authen_pam and activated "Use PAM for Unix = authentication" in the Authentication Module. I created a new User with Password set on Unix Auth and put him into a = new group with access to some Modules. If I try to log on without full PAM conversation the user can log in = with any password he wants (but empty password does not work) With full PAM conversation the user cant log in anyway. You might be better off doing this with a button in the Custom Commands module. It could run something like : mysqldump -U fred -phispassword databasename >output.sql > Secondly, what do I need to add to the backup command so it > is exported as a .csv file? As far as I know, mysql doesn't support a CSV backup format. You'd have to write a little Perl script to generate something like that.. - Jamie |

Yes, I can see how that would be useful .. however, it would take a fair bit of time to develop, while the current cluster monitoring support is available right now :-) - Jamie On Tue, 2005-09-13 at 01:28, Enrique Toledano wrote: > Yes, but I think it would be better that each server make its own > monitorization, because otherwise there's use of the network (every x > seconds with many computers and many monitors) and all the > monitorization depends only on one server. Yes, but I think it would be better that each server make its own monitorization, because otherwise there's use of the network (every x seconds with many computers and many monitors) and all the monitorization depends only on one server. And all the monitors must be run at the same time, and with the same interval. 2005/9/12, Jamie Cameron <jca...@we...>: > On 12/Sep/2005 23:17 Enrique Toledano wrote .. > > Hi all > > > > Jamie, could it be possible to have a cluster module for the system > > and server status module, in which we could set monitors for all the > > computers in the cluster at once? I think it would be useful I suppose this could be done .. but the existing Status module can already monitor multiple systems from a single Webmin server. You can define remote hosts in the Webmin Servers Index module, and then each monitor in the Status module can be configured to run on a specified remote host. - Jamie |

Hi all Jamie, could it be possible to have a cluster module for the system and server status module, in which we could set monitors for all the computers in the cluster at once? I think it would be useful Thanks (and greetings for the open count sponsoring) |

Hi again, It's been a while since I needed to make any specific changes, but I have a client who needs to make a scheduled backup of their MySQL database, which I have set up & also back them up at will. I think my easiest option is to use Webmin to do this, however, I haven't been able to figure out how to achive the end result I need & wonder if anyone could assist with this (or tell me if it can't be done using Webmin) I created a webmin user who only has access to the MySQL module, plus I have set the user so nothing can be changed etc... on the database - what I need is this: When the user logs in to the MySQL module, I would like them to have only a 'backup database' button available, nothing else, so I can preset the name for the backup, as well as the location & they only need to click the 'backup' button to back their database up. Secondly, what do I need to add to the backup command so it is exported as a .csv file? I could see no option to do this within Webmin, so perhaps it isn't currently possible, or maybe I need to add a flag. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. -- Bye for now, Terry Allen ___________________________________________________________________ hEARd Postal Address: hEARd, 26B Glenning Rd, Glenning Valley, NSW 2261, Australia Internet - WWW: http://heard.com.au http://itavservices.com EMAIL: hm...@oz... I'd like to either: > - be able to select the "based on interface" interface, or > - choose from a list of NameVirtualHost directives This is sort-of possible already. Virtualmin has a special always-name-based mode, which you can enable on the Module Config page using the 'All Apache virtual servers are name-based?' option. Once active, it will no longer set up any private IP based virtual servers. Instead, everything is name-based, but you can select which IP to host each name-based server on. I am not 100% sure of the usefulness of this, but someone asked and paid for it, so it was added :-) - Jamie |

At the moment, you can only do this by disabling the web feature, and then re-enabling it again. When re-activating it, there is a field at the bottom of the Edit Server page for setting the proxy website. In future Virtualmin releases, I will add a page specifically for enabling, disabling and changing the proxying and frame forwarding URL.. - Jamie |

Try doing the following : - Go to the Apache Webserver module - Click on Edit Defined Parameters - Enter SSL into the text box, and click Save - Click on the Re-Configure Known Modules icon, make sure that mod_ssl is selected, and click Configure - Go back to Virtualmin and try the config check again. The problem here is the <IfDefined> block in your Apache configuration. Webmin has no way of automatically knowing that SSL is defined, and so has to be told manually.. It's things like this that make me wish the Apache config file wasn't so powerful .. those <If> blocks almost turn it into a programming language, which makes it tricky for Webmin to parse! - Jamie On Sun, 2005-09-11 at 15:53, Roger B.A. Klorese wrote: > *I'm setting up a new system with FreeBSD 2005 (5.4-RELEASE FreeBSD > 5.4-RELEASE #0: Sun May 8 10:21:06 UTC 2005), and when I go to check > the config with Virtualmin I get: > > The status of your system is being checked to ensure that all enabled > features are available, that the mail server is properly configurated, > and that quotas are active ..* > > Apache is installed. > > Webalizer is installed. > > The Apache configuration on your system appears to be missing the > module mod_ssl, which is needed to host SSL websites. Hi Everyone, Joe is correct here - Webmin is not being aquired by OpenCountry, so there is no danger of the project being forked or taken out of my control. OpenCountry benefits from the sponsorship because they include a version of Webmin and Usermin with their OC-Manager product. Previous sponsors have supported Webmin for the same reason .. - Jamie -----Original Message----- From: Joe Cooper <jo...@sw...> Subj: Re: [webmin-l] Webmin sponsorship by OpenCountry Date: Sat 10 Sep 2005 6:54 am Size: 3K To: web...@li... I know I'm not the one this was directed at, but I'll comment anyway, because I think a couple of points are relevant: Sponsorships like this have happened in the past for Webmin (Caldera and MSCLinux). Webmin came out the other side stronger, and with Jamie still firmly in control. Webmin is Jamie and Jamie is Webmin. There is no one else who could fork Webmin with any success. The momentum is behind the core Webmin, and Jamie is so much faster/better than any other developer in the Webmin community (I say this without hesitation, and I'm one of those developers, and have been coding for Webmin for over five years...but there's just no comparison between myself and Jamie).
