Again webmin 1.620 and Centos 6.3. I am fighting with setting up a private tld; you can see the fun discussion over on the bind-users list. Now I am trying to figure out how to setup trusted-keys section in named.conf. I am doing this manually, trying to follow what is in: http://www.isc.org/software/bind/documentation/arm95 I cannot find any options for this in webmin; is there? |

Webmin 1.620 on Centos 6.3 I have used this to create both a ZSK and KSK and sign a zone. When I look in the zone file, I can see the two DNSKEY RR with type 256 and 257. The problem is when I come back to this module and ask to show the two keys, it shows the ZSK in both areas. |

This is interesting information, but the question then raising, why apt-get sees aptitude's holds, if they are, supposedly, different, when it comes to upgrading? -- WBR, Andrey Repin (anrdaemon@...) 27.02.2013, <19:02> Sorry for my terrible english... |

This from a Debian Squeeze system where 3 packages are held both by aptitude and apt-get: 14:26 jaspa3 ~ # dpkg --get-selections|grep hold|awk '{print $1}' linux-image-2.6-686 linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 linux-libc-dev 14:26 jaspa3 ~ # aptitude search "~ahold"|grep "^.h"|awk '{print $2}' linux-image-2.6-686 linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 linux-libc-dev Maybe also worth looking at this: http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/release-notes/ch-upgrading.en.html#package-status It confirms that aptitude and apt-get use different methods of holding packages, so both need to be checked. Haven't got an Ubuntu system, hopefully someone else can oblige. Regards, LS -- Laurence Southon Tiger Computing, Bexley http://www.tiger-computing.co.uk |

I've set up a virtualmin server to create websites for the cake php framework, which isn't really possible with the current Nginx interface. Because of this, I want to disable the 'Configure Nginx Website' option for the account holder. Alternatively, as was suggested some tmie ago, I'd like to replace with the ability just to edit the site config file. How do I do that? Ok, I think that's the cause of the problem - if you create a user like that, Virtualmin gets confused as to whether he is the master admin or not. Unfortunately that is not a supported configuration right now. - Jamie |

Yes, this is expected - in order for Virtualmin to login to MySQL as a domain owner (or install scripts that login to MySQL), it needs to keep the plain-text password. However, when other passwords are hashed, the MySQL password will be randomly generated and different from the admin password. |

Greetings, All! Basically, what $SUBJ says. MySQL passwords are stored in plain text despite the "Store clear text passwords?" being set to "No, only store hashed passwords". -- WBR, Andrey Repin (anrdaemon@...) 26.02.2013, <02:27> Sorry for my terrible english... |

I could incorporate this into Webmin, but I'd need to know some command or config file in which the package holds are stored. Webmin knows about pinned versions (as displayed by the command apt-cache policy), but I guess a hold is something different. - Jamie |

Greetings, All! I'm testing the new webmin installation, and hit a roadblock. When I login as specific user with permission given to manage Virtualmin Virtual Servers module, that user is unable to create new servers - "Failed to create virtual server : Selected plan does not exist or is not available" Even though I checked and re-checked, that the default plan is there, and I made it selected to be set as such for new servers, even though the default setting clearly show that the single plan should be selected in either case. -- WBR, Andrey Repin (anrdaemon@...) 24.02.2013, <11:08> Sorry for my terrible english... |

It was a fresh system (newly rented VPS), but I'm not a big fan of installation scripts, or custom installers in general. Had enough issues with, i.e., Realtek drivers autoinstaller, in the past. Also, while I was playing with Virtualmin, I've discovered that it's a bit unsuitable for my needs. All I need to do is a convenient way to create virtualhost+domain+may be mail aliases, and to manage the pack (myself) as single entity from a convenient control panel. Virtualmin, however, is something more aimed to rented hosting, where one person (or script) creates hosts for other users to use. It seems, I'm still able (although, slightly inconveniently) to use it the desired way, but the bunch of unix users it creating is an unwelcome overhead. -- WBR, Andrey Repin (anrdaemon@...) 23.02.2013, <23:10> Sorry for my terrible english... |

In the end, I was only able to get it from my bash history on the > host I've installed virtualmin in the past. Ok, in that case I think the issue is that we don't have dependencies setup correctly for the webmin-virtual-server package. Normally this isn't an issue as our install script brings in both packages. Actaully, I highly recommend using our installer as it performs a bunch of other setup, mostly driven by the virtualmin-based package. This configures postfix, bind, mysql and webmin for use by Virtualmin - if you just apt-get install the webmin-* packages, you will have to do all that configuration manually. However, the installer is only really suitable for use on a fresh system, not one you already have configured for web hosting or something else. - Jamie |
