I know I'm not the one this was directed at, but I'll comment anyway, because I think a couple of points are relevant: Sponsorships like this have happened in the past for Webmin (Caldera and MSCLinux). Webmin came out the other side stronger, and with Jamie still firmly in control. Webmin is Jamie and Jamie is Webmin. There is no one else who could fork Webmin with any success. The momentum is behind the core Webmin, and Jamie is so much faster/better than any other developer in the Webmin community (I say this without hesitation, and I'm one of those developers, and have been coding for Webmin for over five years...but there's just no comparison between myself and Jamie). Just some thoughts... Barry wrote: > Hi Jamie - > > This is interesting news as I have met Michael Grove personally though > various non-Linux related Entrepreneur activities in Silicon Valley. Hi Jamie - This is interesting news as I have met Michael Grove personally though various non-Linux related Entrepreneur activities in Silicon Valley. His company is intriguing to me, and so is webmin, given my experience at the early stages of Cobalt Networks managing the international versions of the products. I wonder if you are aware of, and care to comment on why this type of positive announcement can flow out of the association of a pure OS product with a money making organization, while your countrymates at Miro nearly simultaneously so botched a similar transaction with Mambo (now called joomla) that it led to a project fork. Best, Barry Jamie Cameron wrote: >Hi Webmin users, > >I'm glad to announce that the development of Webmin is now being >sponsored by Open Country. I am running 1.220-1, and had to upgrade the Chained SSL cert on the system this week, the cert is from ChainedSSL. The new cert gives an error saying "can not read file" and the webmin refuses to load. If I replace the cert with the old version (expired) webmin works fine. The Certificate is already installed for Apache and works 100%. Any idea why? David Coley Codecipher |

MessageWhat ftp server are you using -ProFTPd, wu ftp war ??? The webmin module for ProFTPd has an option to limit users to thier home = dir only. by using a tilde ~ what is does is add the option=20 DefaultRoot ~ Which tells proftpd to no allow users to exit thier root (home) = directory. allowing access to a poorly configured ftp server is server suicide ... = A good start would be to read, and reread the ftp server docs! Interesting .. So does the UID only get displayed if the username is too long? If so, I should be able to deal with this by increasing the field length as you suggested.. - Jamie -----Original Message----- From: "Obantec Support" <su...@ob...> Subj: [webmin-l] UID in place of username follow-up Date: Wed 7 Sep 2005 5:39 pm Size: 1020 bytes To: <web...@li...> Hi Jamie I don't know if you remember the thread about UID in place of username. bugzilla have responded. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=166431 seems there is a way round getting the username testing with ps -eo user:20,group,pid,args (took a few tests to get some long usernames) justprop-paulk 11138 14434 pop3 bud-jetc-newsmaster domain94 14670 /usr/bin/perl -T -w /usr/bin/spamassassin GID on 11138 is domain150 so 1 char over on 8 char limit? Postfix can return any arbitrary status you want from an access table.
To implement this you would put an entry in 'recipient_access_table' for
a table that had the address (or whatever match you want) as the left
part, and on the right:
4NN Whatever text you want
5NN Whatever text you want
REJECT Whatever optional text you want
DISCARD Message for the system log
REJECT is almost certainly the right thing, since it allows the
administrator to easily customize what the rejection code is in main.cf,
without needing to hack your table.

That's a good idea .. I will add support for this in the next Virtualmin release. It will only work when using Sendmail as the mail server though, as Postfix and Qmail don't appear to have any similar feature. - Jamie On Tue, 2005-09-06 at 22:12, Alan Dobkin wrote: > Thanks! Thanks! After I sent my message, I thought you could even take it one step further if you want. You could use the destination entry box to allow for users to enter whatever status message they choose. If they enter nothing, append "User unknown" by default, but if they enter something, that would override it. And the module would detect any existing entries in virtusertable that begin with "error:nouser" as a status of "Bounce mail". Alan On 9/6/2005 7:55 AM, Jamie Cameron wrote: > That's a good idea .. Roger is correct on this - you need to enable a private IP for the virtual server before SSL can be turned on.. Perhaps in a future release I will allow SSL websites to be run on private ports rather than IPs, which could be useful for testing purposes.. - Jamie -----Original Message----- From: "Roger B.A. Klorese" <ro...@qu...> Subj: Re: [webmin-l] virtualmin ssl vhost problem Date: Tue 6 Sep 2005 4:25 pm Size: 1K To: web...@li... You can't use SSL with NameVirtualHost if you wish sites to have different certificates. Since the SSL connection is established before the client can tell the server which server name it wants to talk to, you can only use SSL on a dedicated IP address (or IP:port pair). You need to create a separate virtual IP address for the host -- in legal space that's routed to the machine -- and use that address for that server to support SSL. (Jamie: shouldn't you allow unique ports?) ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is Sponsored by the Better Software Conference & EXPO September 19-22, 2005 * San Francisco, CA * Development Lifecycle Practices Agile & Plan-Driven Development * Managing Projects & Teams * Testing & QA Security * Process Improvement & Measurement * http://www.sqe.com/bsce5sf - Forwarded by the Webmin mailing list at web...@li... Jamie, When you make this change, can you also correct the "Bounce mail" option so it appends "User unknown"? It makes the bounce status messages more obvious. Here is an example of the difference in output: root# grep fo...@do... /etc/mail/virtusertable fo...@do... error:nouser root# sendmail -bv fo...@do... fo...@do...... >foo<@domain.com. root# grep ba...@do... /etc/mail/virtusertable ba...@do... error:nouser User unknown root# sendmail -bv ba...@do... ba...@do...... User unknown Thanks, Alan On 9/5/2005 8:50 PM, Jamie Cameron wrote: > I have to admit, the UI for that mail forwarding module is a bit too > complex for most users ... which is why in the next release, it will be > much simpler for people who just want to do forwarding or auto-replies. > > - Jamie |

Failed to create virtual server : SSL cannot be enabled unless a
website is configured, and a virtual IP address allocated
but i dont quite understand what it means.
i have port and namevirtualhost settings in apache.
what am i doing wrong?
thanks in advance
