You can get the rpm here... http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/linux-rpm/#tuxpaint-stamps ...if you open it with Konqueror (or whatever is used in GNOME) then you should simply be able to click on the linky thingy and install using YaST. If not, you could always download each one then install from the command line by typing - for example - kai@xwing:~/downloads> su Password: xwing:/home/kai/downloads # rpm -i tuxpaint-stamps-animals-2008.03.01-1.noarch.rpm Note to tuxpaint guys: I get the following warning installing... warning: group toyama does not exist - using root ...just fyi. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request |

Hello, I am not a SUSE user , but I suggest you use YAST to install Tux Paint. All you have to do is just searching "Tux Paint" in YAST,and then confirm to install (use your admin). It is autoinstall. And of course you could download Tux Paint through this link: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/suse/i586/tuxpaint-0.9.15b-14.i586.rpm then run the console, type the code "rpm -Uvh tuxpaint-0.9.15b-14.i586.rpm" in your console. Enjoy your Tux Paint :-) On 4/26/08, master88999 <sam...@li...> wrote: > > > My son just loves this, but we had to get a new computer. My son just loves this, but we had to get a new computer. I don't know much about linux so I can't figure out how to get this to work. Hi Amit, there was a problem with an earlier release of Tux Paint that behaved like that on some systems. Which version of Tux Paint was this? The latest version is 0.9.19, regards, John. |

www.pinguincafe.de Should be a fun 4 days, lots of Tux. The web site is a bit dull at the moment... but I will soon change that. However, I am looking for ideas with what to to with the 10 EEEPC's ASUS have given me. Something to promote TUXPaint... I have ideas! But I am looking for some ideas that are not mine! Hello, I use Tux Paint without any hassles on Ubuntu. I asked a friend to try it out on her Windows XP machine. She installed it, but when the application is started it simply stops responding. What could be the problem? Assume that the system configs are wel above the desired minimum. If you haven't downloaded Tux Paint, you can get it from this part of the website: http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/ (If you need to ask your parents if it's ok, or for help, then be sure to do so!) If you've already installed Tux Paint, then you just need to start it up... * On Windows, you may have a "Tux Paint" shortcut icon on your desktop. You can double-click it to start Tux Paint. If not, you should be able to find it under your "Start" menu. On 'Windows XP', for example, it's under "All Programs", then "Tux Paint". * On Mac, you should have a "Tux Paint" icon on your computer somewhere. Normally, people put it in their "Applications" folder, which you should be able to get to from the 'Finder'. If you can't find it, you can use your computer's "Find" command to search for "Tux Paint" or "TuxPaint" (without a space). Good luck! PS - you posted your question to the 'tuxpaint-users' mailing list, but you're not subscribed. So I'm replying back to you, and posting back to the list, too. However, if other people reply only to the list, you might not see it! (More on the lists here: http://www.tuxpaint.org/lists/ ) -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

Caroline Ford (with help from Ben Armstrong, our resident Debian Developer) was kind enough to put together packages of the recently-released 0.9.19 version Tux Paint for Ubuntu Linux! Packages are available for the current (7.10 / Gutsy) and the upcoming (8.04 / Hardy) versions of Ubuntu, for i386, lpia and amd64 architectures. Hi, this is _partially_ possible. :) That is, you can have OS X expand the environment/system variable when sending a command-line option to the Tux Paint program. On Linux, it'd be something like: tuxpaint --savedir=$HOME/tuxpaint-pictures On Mac OS X, I'm a little less clear on the best way to invoke the Tux Paint program via a command-line. But it should be possible. What's currently _not_ possible, but is planned (hopefully for the next release) is the ability to specify environment variables within Tux Paint's configuration file (e.g., edit them in the Tux Paint Config. tool). Right now, if your config file says: savedir=$HOME/tuxpaint-pictures ...it will literally think you're trying to save into a directory named "$HOME", and not the value of your HOME env var. (And we'd support "%THIS_STYLE%" on Windows, too.) good luck! -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

I'm sure this has been answered but, I couldn't find it. Is there some make to set the directory using a system variable e.g., $USER? We are in a OS X networked environment and I'd like to change the directory from the default "/Users/Username/library/app..." to "Users/Username/Pictures/". thanks. If not, it MAY be possible to use the RPMs that Shin-Ichi put together for Fedora Linux. (Oh, although you'd need a '-devel' package for the headers, wouldn't you.) For those of you who aren't subscribed to the 'tuxpaint-news' announcement list, and didn't look at the website yet today. ;^) ----- Forwarded message from Bill Kendrick <nb...@so...> ----- Hello Tux Paint fans. This is a brief note to let you know that Tux Paint 0.9.19 is now available! An official press-release about it is here: http://tuxpaint.org/latest/tuxpaint-0.9.19-press-release-en.php3 In short, this fixes a number of issues that cropped up in 0.9.18, which was released in November. It also adds a few minor updates, and some new language support (Azerbaijani, Khmer, Macedonian, Occitan and Zapoteco, as well as Canadian and Australian English). There are also a few new stamps, and the entire stamp collection has been compressed to save a little more space on your hard disk! The new version already available for most of the major platforms we support: Windows (XP, 2000, Vista) http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/windows/ ('Installer' version) http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/windows-zip/ (Stand-alone ZIP file version) Mac OS X (10.3 and up; Intel or PowerPC) http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/macosx/ Fedora Linux (FC2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Fedora 7 and 8; Intel x86) http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/linux-rpm/ BeOS (Intel x86) http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/beos/ ...and of course, the Source Code is available, if you'd like to build it yourself for your favorite system: http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/source/ As usual, if anyone discovers issues with this version, we will post them (and any known work-arounds) on the "Known Issues" page of the website: http://www.tuxpaint.org/docs/known_issues/ Tux Paint is completely free software, release under an Open Source license. This means you may install it on as many systems as you wish, make copies for friends, give it away, or even sell your own discs! YOU CAN HELP! If you're interested in contributing to Tux Paint, check out the various ways you can help us: http://www.tuxpaint.org/help/ Thanks and enjoy, Bill Kendrick and the Tux Paint Team (John, Martin, Luc, Shin-ichi, Ben, Caroline, and countless others!) ----- End forwarded message ----- -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

Tux Paint 0.9.19, Tux Paint Config 0.0.10 and Tux Paint Stamps 2008.03.01 have been released as source, and BeOS (Intel) and Mac OS X (Intel/PPC) binaries are also available. Once Windows binaries are available, I'll being announcing more widely, and will make the 0.9.19 press release live on the website. Thanks everyone for their hard work! We had a lot of hiccups right after 0.9.18 back in November, but between everyone in the project, and a lot of helpful end-users, we were able to clean things up quite a bit. Here's to a (much more) successful minor release: 0.9.19! The current downloads are at: http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/source/ http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/beos/ http://www.tuxpaint.org/download/macosx/ -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

I've created a new business card for Tux Paint. (I burned through the first 1000 I had made back in late 2003 rather quickly. :) ) The card contains the new URL to the website (www.tuxpaint.org vs. the original newbreedsoftware.com/tuxpaint), mentions BeOS support, and has some text, screenshots and award icons on the back side. I created it this evening using Inkscape, and the SVGs (and required PNGs which the SVGs link to -- for things like the screenshots and awards), as well as PNG bitmaps (approx. 3.5" x 2" @ 300dpi) are available here: ftp://ftp.tuxpaint.org/unix/x/tuxpaint/art/business-card/ I've made an order for 1000 full-color cards based on this art, with rounded corners (just what I always wanted for these!) from OvernightPrints.com. Thanks to Sandra Thorne, who recently donated a whopping $100 to me for Tux Paint, which I decided to use to make this purchase. (I was thinking of using it to participate in a local Child Development Conference, but I think I'll be able to get the Linux User Group I'm part of to go to / pay for that.) -- -bill! bi...@ne... http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/ |

seems to be my bad weekend for Tux... Installed the upgrade at home on XP os over old installation... figured it might use old C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/My Documents/My Pictures/My Art/Tuxpaint/saved/ for saving work or in any case could easily be found... made 3 pics cant find em anywhere They were on tux for a while -heh heh heh-- but I demolished that! Saved Directory indicated the same ol directory: C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/My Documents/My Pictures/My Art/Tuxpaint/saved/ used Alternate to 'reinforce' and obviously (vbg) that was NOT the thing to do. found my OLD pics lost the NEW ONES search indicates I have only the SINGLE name validating file that verified THAT the "2008112..." (todays date) convention remained in place... clearly tux didn't save those files it saved on THIS computer. vbg. THE FILES ARE OUT THERE SOMEWHERE. If you see em send em home. everything works fine now that I've officially set the Alt destination but fwiw this block was originally clipped outta Tux: "C:/Documents and Settings/HP_Administrator/My Documents/My Pictures/My Art/Tuxpaint/saved/" No biggie. I'm on to new Pics for the son in law. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. |
