Hello my son accidentally removed one of his TuxPaint pictures. ¿Is there any way of recovering it? TuxPaint is running in Windows NT. I have search around temp directorys and so on without success. I couldn't find nor the png nor the dat files. Thanks in advance. Best Regards. -- Antonio |

You could either use "File -> Open..." in those apps, and in the
dialog that comes up, browse to the folder mentioned below.
Alternatively, you could go to the folder via Finder and then
double-click the images (which I think should open them in Preview by
defautl), or {{ I'm sure there's something, but I don't know what }} to
open an image in another app. (Maybe [Option]+click?) Drag-n-drop
an image file onto an app's icon (in the Dock or elsewhere) or maybe
into an app's window probably also works.
I haven't used a Mac since MacOS 7.5 :^/

As the native file format, no... JPEG is lossy and introduces artifacts in the picture (especially line drawings) which accumulate every time you load, edit and re-save. In the meantime, Tux Paint's pictures are in PNG format, which you should be able to easily convert to JPEG. (Or simply use it instead of JPEG) In case you're wondering where Tux Paint stores its files, see: http://www.tuxpaint.org/gallery/submit/ > Also, is there a way to select what printer you want it to print to (on a > mac)? Is there a way (or will there be in the future) to save tuxpaint creations as a jpg? Also, is there a way to select what printer you want it to print to (on a mac)? It just uses your default printer the way we are using it. See: http://www.tuxpaint.org/purchase/ As of this writing, the version on the CDROM available at CafePress is the latest official release of Tux Paint (0.9.21 from June 2009). Enjoy! -bill! |

I would like to be able to buy a package with all the stamps for Macinstosh. I'd need this on a DVD to be able to give to our IT department to be able to create an 'image' for the next school year. I would buy an upgrade for the following year as more stamps are developed. In other words, one package of all together would be great. In this way, we don't rely on the internet to download anything or need the internet to use wonderful, marvelous TuxPaint - Thanks, Ann Ann Reigle Technology Facilitator Memorial Hall 717-520-2435 re...@mh... >>> Bill Kendrick <nb...@so...> 10/08/10 4:01 PM >>> On Fri, Oct 08, 2010 at 08:58:39AM -0400, Stephen Voss wrote: > There should not be a separate program and stamps package. The Tux Paint project, as part of the larger Tux4Kids organization, has taken place in Google's "Summer of Code" program for the past few years. The program below, like their "Highly Open Participation" (GHOP), which was a way to get high school students involved in open source projects. GSOC is for programming projects, while GHOP was for other aspects (documentation, art, etc.) It seems that this new "Code-In" program is like the two programs combined (programming projects for high schoolers). I haven't looked into it closely, but I'm betting Tux Paint and the other Tux4Kids projects would benefit from participating. In any case, there might folks out here who are interested to know about this outside of Tux4Kids' involvement. (e.g., educators, parents who have older kids, etc.) Enjoy & have a nice weekend! -bill! ----- Forwarded message from Carol Smith ----- Date: Thu, 7 Oct 2010 11:27:22 -0700 From: Carol Smith Subject: Announcing Google Code-in Hi everyone, We*re pleased to announce that we are planning to run the Google Code-in contest starting this November. Hi Sipho - Try changing Tux Paint's options in the Tux Paint Config tool that ships with the app. Enable "Fullscreen" and "Native Screen Size", and it should run in exactly 1024x600. Enjoy, -bill! Your software is very interesting and educational, especially for kids.
Also as an adult I enjoy making use of it.
However, it doesn display the whole full sreen on my notebook computer.
The features of my notebook computer are as follows:
* OS: Windows 7 Starter Edition(32b)
* CPU: Intel ATOM Processor N450
* LCD: 10,1inch (200nit Non - Gloss)
* Resolution: 1024*600
Can you please check if you wont be able to rectify that in a new version.

If you are a teacher, student, programmer, translator, designer -- you name it -- or an organizer-promoter for a project, we'd love to hear your "take" on how it's going, what you find rewarding or not so, and what challenges you think must be solved to go forward successfully. I have written a number of you personally and would now like to send a general invitation to members of the community for free and open sources for education. Not just a collection of blogs, it will be a kind of snapshot of the current state of affairs and it will be hosted on the http://flossed.org Web site. I hope that you will participate if you participate. * Why should you be interested? You may have seen Red Hat's effort at OpenSource.com. If you haven't, then I recommend it. It's well-done and has published some thoughtful and insightful pieces -- and has inspired good discussion in the form of comments. As good as it is, and despite the fact that it has an education section, I think there is a need for something more directly relevant to k-12 education. There is not a great deal of competition for the free and open source education space, but that is not because it lacks value; I believe its voice (and the need for it) is simply drowned out by the noise of "commerce." It would be great to give voice to those closer to the ground and for whom free and open sources is an integral part of their lives. That's you, the members of schoolforge-discuss and other such groups dedicated to education. You have made it possible for others to make free and open source software part of their lives. So, I can't think of anyone more appropriate than you to give free and open source software a voice. If you can recommend someone else I should contact, please let me know. I'll need all the help I can get. My part? I will get the word out. Please come and join me in creating something good ... at least an issue. * The Nitty-Gritty: As we have entered the age of easy multimedia, screencasts and videos and animations as well as graphics are all welcomed -- text, however, is good. Take some quiet time and write a bit for us. We want to learn from you. I'm hoping for ... November 1st. What do you think? Does anyone know where I can find a bunch of line drawings? I need basic shapes such as a heart, puzzle piece, 4 leaf clover, banana, hello kitty, pumpkin, etc. I also need to save the file as .dxf to use with a machine. The machine cuts out the shape from flat material so the drawing need only be the outline. Thanks for your help. Best regards, Jerry Roy 562-305-9545 |

When I downloaded the program and stamps files not all the stamps showed up (compared to what I see online). Some of the stamps buttons are colored but with no picture and when I press it, the description shows up at the bottom but there is no picture on the button nor does anything show up on the screen. Are some of the stamps only on the purchased CD? I'm using the 0.9.21 version on a Mac OS X 10.6.3. |

Hello everyone, I will be in a science exhibition next month with a couple of computers running tuxpaint for the children to come over and paint and have fun. I am also planning to handout stickers to participating children. I am looking for a high resolution tuxpaint logo and ideas for the sticker. I would also like to include the url tuxpaint.org on the sticker so that interested parents can use the information to install tuxpaint on their home computers. I am looking for something on the lines of http://images7.cafepress.com/product/42861467v2_480x480_Front.jpg<http://www.cafepress.com/newbreedsw.42861467> + URL Can I use the above image + text (copyrighted?). Is there a high resolution tuxpaint logo that I can download ? Thanks, -- Mohan |

I have a teacher who'd like to extract Tux Paint's
drawings and store them on a pen drive.
I gave them instructions on how to do this via
Terminal, but that's not very user-friendly,
and they were unsuccessful.
Is anyone out here capable of creating an app
("Activity") for Sugar that would do this for
them? I'm guessing it could be little more
than a shell script and an icon to launch it.
Thanks in advance,
-bill!
