Hi, I'm new to Seq24, and I do really like it, however, there is one minor feature that I'd like, and I thought I'd just check it wasn't actually already available. When I've got long sequences programmed in, they appear to play in the background, even if not selected. When I select to play them, they either play from the current place they have got to, or I can choose to play them from the next time they reach the beginning of the sequence. Is there a way to set them to play from the start of the sequence, even if they're currently half way though (so you'd sort of 'reset' the position when playing them) Thanks, Loz |

Hi all, attached is a patch containing modifications made by Stéphane Letz, the developer of jack2 who was so kind to have a look into the seq24 code yesterday. In the original setting, seq24 was not able to do a proper client connection. It also fixes the deprecated call to jack_client_new. It applies to src/perform.cpp Thanks very much Stéphane. Hi,
I have a problem with the transport of seq24, using jack2.
When I press play in seq24, jack-transport is rolling, but nothing happens
in seq24.I mean, the transport bar does not move, and nothing is played.
I didn't change my settings, and it was working like a charm with jack1.
When I run seq24 in a terminal, I see these messages, but I don't think they
are related to my issue :
Error Reading [/home/mysthr2/.seq24usr]
jack_client_new: deprecated
You cannot set callbacks on an active client
[JACK transport master]
Any idea of what could cause this issue ?
Thanks

Hi, I've been using the win32 version, but I don't like the mouse input and wanted to try out some ideas I had (basically making the note add/delete/move stuff intuitive/simple/easy like fruityloops), and also wanted to try some keyboard ideas, like spacebar starts/stops the sequencer like many editors do (i.e. cakewalk, cooledit, soundforge, fruityloops) But, I've got the code, and the win32 gtkmm(and dependencies), and when I compile it complains it can't find ALSA headers... and there's no ifdef around those... I don't think ALSA's on WIN32, so.... maybe the WIN32 code isn't in the source release? Anyway, it'd be great if someone could add a blurb to the README or INSTALL for compiling for WIN32. Or if the code isn't there. If it could perhaps be added, or simply posted in it's current form for someone else to fork?... --- kevin meinert | http://www.subatomicglue.com |

Maybe you could just move to some easy to use music oriented linux like Ubuntu Studio? :) The latest version of FST (http://www.joebutton.co.uk/fst/) combined with a recent Wine (www.winehq.org) has very good VSTi support already, so you'd also have a nice set of instruments available. - Jaakko |

Oh.. Didnt notice the subject... Unfortunately nothings been done in that branch yet :/ i've been a little short on time and jackmidi support needs some major refactorings of the seq24 midi bus structure. If you'd like to contribute, you're more than welcome. First the branch needs a merge from the trunk though. And the the first thing after that is creating some abstraction to the midibus code (generic mastermidibus and separate midibusses or "drivers" for amidi & jackmidi). - jaakko 2008/12/3, Jaakko Sipari <jaa...@gm...>: > I think the wiki had one article about building for ubuntu. Hi all, sorry for the inconvenience but I just detected a keyboard shortcut bug I introduced in the 0.9.0 release by enabling shortcuts for menu items. The result is that currently key combinations Alt-F, V, H and Ctrl-N, O, S, Q, E are not working in life mode as usual, because they are caught by the menu. This behavior can simply be fixed by commenting lines 710 and 711 in mainwnd.ccp and removing the "else" in line 713. I personally do not like to get back to the menu without shortcuts, because that would be very unusual for a normal application. I am thinking about an other solution. We could introduce a toolbar (also very common in other applications) containing (beneath others) a toggle button to disable menu accelerators. An other task for an other toggle button could be switching between "life" and "song" mode. Currently this option is quite hidden. This toolbar could also be used for "patch group switching" as proposed in an other discussion here. Any comments? Guido -- http://www.bayernline.de/~gscholz/ http://www.lug-burghausen.org/ |

Hi All, Given the recent postings to this list re: feature requests, is the best way to go to post them to the list? Or should we enter them in the Wiki, or on Launchpad? Here are my feature requests (and I apologise in advance for asking for features without contributing any code in return): 1. Make the loop length text box editable to allow for loops of longer than 64 - arbitrary length. This would allow users to record long solos to drop in next to loops in 'song mode'. 2. Envelopes for control event messages. At the moment it's tedious to add a control message at every tick in order to make slides. It would be cool to have an 'envelope mode' where envelopes could be drawn with control points in the control event editing section. Best regards, Chris. ------------------- http://mccormick.cx |

I didn't remember patchbay worked this way. Hi, For now, I pass through this problem using : [manual-alsa-ports] # set to 1 if you want seq24 to create its own alsa ports and # not connect to other clients 1 The qjackctl patchbay does the connections. But if seq24 can do this alone, it would be wonderfull ! :) Cheers, Mysth-R 2008/12/1 Jaakko Sipari <jaa...@gm...> > On Sun, Nov 30, 2008 at 11:30 PM, Guido Scholz <gui...@ba... > > wrote: > >> >> Hi all, >> here is another one: >> >> 8<---------------------- >> >> The current MIDI connection order in the port list is by port numbers. >> This is not very practical since it depends on the order the different >> applications were launched, and when a previously saved seq24 file is >> loaded it does not necessarily reconnect to the original ports. >> >> If port names (stripped off the port number) were used, the >> reconnection would be more solid and ease things a lot. So maybe we should add the "connect by alsa port name" feature and make it the default behaviour for Seq24? Unfortunately this would need changes to the file format also, since if I've understood correctly, it currently only has the midi bus numbers stored. Anyways... -> blueprint :) - Jaakko |
