Merlisk, are you using a saved char file that was generated by an older version of Scribia? That causes problems. (My fault, I messed with Bones' save file structure, and the change broke backward-compatibility.) Try with a fresh character file and see if the error goes away. Also, I just found this by accident. Please consider submitting bugs through the tracker at http://sourceforge.net/projects/scribia/ in the future, so they don't fall through the cracks :-) > PPC version. Just a quick note. I updated the scribia.sourceforge.net page to point downloads to the 0.3.0 release. I'm going to try to get more of the website written up in the next couple days or this weekend. Mainly going to depend on when I can find time. I still don't have the news updating on the front page. I just edited by hand tonight. It'd be nice to get it working for ease of use. But its mainly a deal where I haven't had time to figure it out. I know you need to set a cron job for it, but I'm not sure how to tie that into the page. I've never done that before. Also has anyone documented anything yet? I mean as far as instructions for use and functionality. It'd be nice for the user to have some sort of reference on it. I was maybe going to start writing parts of it up while I'm playing with it, but why redo something that's already been done. Besides, I'm not the best writer in the world. That's usually the part of a project that I pawn off to another group member. =) Cygnus cy...@po... _________________________________________________________________ Oh the words that he spoke Seemed the wisest of philosophies There's nothing ever gained By a wet thing called a tear When the world is too dark And I need the light inside of me I'll walk into a bar And drink fifteen pints of beer - Shane MacGowen |

FYI - the link included below (https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=2973&group_id=1) has instructions on how to use CVS+SSH on MacOS. Lark -------- Original Message -------- Subject: CVS pserver access: scribia Date: 13 Jun 2001 12:37:57 -0400 From: Jacob Moorman <mo...@so...> To: la...@us..., pug...@us..., rt...@us..., be...@us..., br...@us..., cy...@us..., ge...@us..., ya...@us... CC: co...@us..., pre...@va... Greetings, My name is Jacob Moorman; I am the Quality of Service Manager for SourceForge.net. In the past, SourceForge.net has provided pserver-based CVS write access to developers of some projects hosted on SourceForge.net. This access has been provided based on requests directed to our support team; and has been provided due to the lack of availability of CVS clients, for certain OS platforms (namely MacOS), which support SSH authentication. It is our pleasure to notify you that several solutions to the historical CVS+SSH problems for MacOS users are now available. Of course, the most recent release of MacOS (MacOS X) natively provides support for wrapping CVS traffic with SSH. However, several solutions have also become available for older versions of MacOS; these solutions are detailed at: https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=2973&group_id=1 The use of the pserver authentication mechanism constitutes a significant risk; the pserver protocol sends passwords in the clear over the network wire, which means they are at risk of capture by third parties who may be monitoring your network traffic. For this reason, we have always made use of the SSH authentication mechanism sitewide, so as to reduce these risks. Pserver-based authentication has been provided solely upon request, and in those cases, only as a temporary workaround for the software availability issues. As solutions for all known CVS+SSH issues are now available, we are now in the process of phasing out pserver-based write access. Based on my review of the scribia project CVS repository, it appears that you have been provided with pserver-based write access to your repository. We are currently in the process of contacting projects who make use of pserver write access to notify them that this service is being phased out. This process will not modify the anonymous pserver-based read-only CVS access provided to all projects. Please set up your workstation to use the new CVS+SSH solutions in lieu of the pserver-based access. Should you encounter difficulties in making this conversion, please notify me via e-mail at mo...@so... ASAP; we will be glad to assist you in the resolution of any issues you encounter. If we do not hear from you by 2001-06-20, we will proceed with the removal of your pserver-based write access to the scribia project CVS repository. In the event that you should have questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me at mo...@so... Thank you, Jacob Moorman Quality of Service Manager, SourceForge mo...@so... |

Met an exile called Nargoth today, he may be interested in helping with OS X. I emailed him a copy of the sources (he doesn't know CVS), and he'll subscribe to this list, too. I'm really happy with 0.3.0 - amazing how far it has come from the simple SIOUX-thingy it was :-) -- Lark <lar...@ya...> |

Scribia 0.3.0-beta can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/projects/scribia/ in a few minutes (when the SourceForge site updates the release list). Please see the web links included in the release archive to report bugs, suggest future features and send email to the developers. Changed since last release: - Allow editing of fields! Wohoo! - If you want to add and hand-enter a trainer, beast, item or exile that isnt in your list or logs, you can use the "Add Field to Table" dialog in the Scribia menu. - New 68k build. - Scribia got a race change (thanks to Sor for a great icon set!) - Added Flexi menu-views for Beasts and Items (NUKE YOUR SCRIBIA PREFS) There are some extra items in the menus for beasts and exiles that are not displayed by default, if you select a different stat to view from the popup, scribia remembers your selection. - initial support for mandible extraction (counts as skinning) - support new skinning/extraction message including critter name - correctly count Untrainus (only those for the character, not others) - Document window opens faster. - Fixed display of total time clanning in the GUI. - Fixed backgrounds of numbers drawing in white. - Scan number of boosts per exile for mystics. Scribia 0.3.0-beta may require Apple Carbon Lib on some MacOS 8.X systems. Carbon Lib can be downloaded free of charge from http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n11916 - a much better idea on these systems would be to upgrade to MacOS 8.6, also available free of charge from Apple. -- Lark <lar...@ya...> |

(compile/run in OSX using the debugger) If I can get my debugging to work in OS X I'll try to get it. Right now I have a problem either with codewarrior not ready for X, my install messed up, or my firewall. When I try to run the debugger, its giving an error message about not being able to connect to a port on my ip. I'm going to try reinstalling CW later when I get time. Hopefully that's all it is. I had been messing with some of the stuff trying to get the java debugger to work with jdk 1.3 in X and probably messed something up. BTW, I don't have court logs. Was asked about in another thread. Anyone have a some sample logs with court cases? I can probably throw together a view for court cases and chain info pretty quickly, even before the next release, if i have something to test them with. Also, I am not sure what creator the Documentation files have been getting for the releases, but make sure the type for the CHANGELOG, README, TO-DO and LICENSE are ttxt, not CWIE. Most users dont have Codewarrior. MacCVS Pro autoconverts my text files to CWIE. -Ben -- NOTE: Please change my address in your address book from bhines at san.rr.com to bhines at alumni.ucsd.edu as my UCSD address will be permanent. <http://freepages.sf.rootsweb.com/~bhines/> - My Genealogy Pages |

Its still beta, no reason to fix ALL the bugs before we release another beta. :) Carbon build is obviously not ready for release, though that is what i am using on my 8.6 machine, and it runs well. But we have a crash on OSX which i can't debug myself. Cyg any way you could tell me where its crashing? (compile/run in OSX using the debugger) 68k build is pretty good i think, considering it was acceptible on my 7.6 Centris 610. By the way, due to Powerplant's excellent appearance manager implementation, the transition is seamless. Scribia on pre-appearance systems looks the same as scribia on appearance systems. The PP "GA***Imp" classes simulate the grayscale appearance look. -Ben -- NOTE: Please change my address in your address book from bhines at san.rr.com to bhines at alumni.ucsd.edu as my UCSD address will be permanent. <http://freepages.sf.rootsweb.com/~bhines/> - My Genealogy Pages |

Hi, Just noticed that when a mystic boosts himself, its not recorded as a boost in the Exile view. It does have a slightly different message then when you get boosted by someone else. Boosting yourself gives: 6/11/01 2:18:43a * You grow more mindful. Another possible thing to record for mystics is how many times they boost someone. When you boost, it gives a message like: 6/4/01 5:09:02p * You mentally enhance Mehan For each person you boost. Committed: CGAPopupButtonImp.cp CGAPopupButtonImp.h CAMPopupButtonImp.cp CAMPopupButtonImp.h - new files to support popup menus CScribiaApp.cp - Manually register classes for optimization (saved 100k of bloat!) Scribia.CW6.mcp.xml - added CGAPopupButtonImp.cp, CGAPopupButtonImp.h, CAMPopupButtonImp.cp, CAMPopupButtonImp.h - removed some unneeded powerplant files and CEditTable.cp, CEditTable.h ScribiaConstants.h - Added fieldchanged msg const CScribiaDocumentWindow.h CScribiaDocumentWindow.cp - Window is a broadcaster - Broadcast when a field is changed so the total can be updated. CScribiaDoc.cp - Removed CEditTable CMapTable.cp - Update our copy of fData when its changed CItemsView.cp CKillsView.cp COtherView.cp - Update totals pane when field is changed I also checked in some other fixes earlier: No more white background-numbers, Carbon no longer disables all yer controls, and the main window opens faster.
