Below is gnuplot script to draw four plots -- one uses "plot for" and
the other uses a multi-line plot command. Although the data has 128
points per plot, the "plot for" result begins with an extra point and
draws 129 points. The multi-line plot draws the expected 128 points.

Hello, I used to use gnuplot with the option -c to load the scriptname and arguments. I can stop the run by using a pause -1 in the script. However, I would like to take the control on the script, for example after a pause -1 and avoid the end of the script, i.e. leaving gnuplot. Is it possible ? Hello everybody, I want to make some band structure plots with gnuplot. Vertical lines are not the problem, I can use this command to set a vert. line at the position = 3: set arrow from 3, graph 0 to 3, graph 1 nohead But I don't get how to label them (as I showed in the attached file in red). If i try to set a label, I only succeed in setting the labels above the x axis, but not under the x axis as showed in the file. What I need are a few labels under the x axis (like an offset) that also support greek characters. Has anyone experience in it? Can somebody help me? Thank you in advance! OK, yes, help autoscale finds that. I was trying to access the value in GPVAL_Y_MIN and GPVAL_Y_MAX to convert them for labeling the 2nd Y scale but couldn't, apparently they get defined by the plotting process. I didn't try labeling after plotting. I was setting my y2range based on values from stat but then I noticed they were a little off. About as I put a bad plot online as the first plot in that post. I knew the max temp was about 93 F but it looks more like 83. The only real change I made was in forcing yrange for the left axis. I know gnuplot is plot oriented and it is probably not supposed to be used for other purposes. However, getting out calculated data (for example from function) would be very helpful. I am just trying to explain why it does not work to use @FILE or @ARG1
inside ordinary quotes.
Try splitting this into two stages. First construct the string to be
executed.
commandstring = "< paste" . ARG1 . "| awk '!/^\#/ { print $2 }' "
Confirm that this did what you wanted
print commandstring
Then use it in a plot command.
plot commandstring
