Hello everyone Can someone please help me with 'plot for'? I have 10 files I would like to plot. My files are in this format: HeliumFoil_23434_2346673_642345-43.vec ............ ............ ............ HeliumFoil_23434_2346640_642340-40.vec I looked at the 'help info' and online and found out about the "plot for" syntax. I'm trying to plot all the files at once without having to do each one of them individually but I'm struggling to define x in the 'plot for' command below: plot for [x=1:10] '*.vec' using 1:2 title 'Flow'.x When I run the above, it complains about not being able to find '.vec' file. I think I have to define x inside the '*.vec' but I don't know how. Many thanks for your support goud |

Dear all,
I really love to use gnuplot for my daily work. However, most of the
people in my community work with ROOT, which is great for our specific
analyzing purposes but is kind of a exhausting tool for displaying the
results. In the past I successfully used gnuplot for this and I am very
happy with the results. In order to make my plots look similar with ROOT
results I have to move the labels of the x (y) axis to the very right
(top). Currently I solve this issue by hiding the xlabel via (I heavily
use TeX within my figures)
xlabel "\\phantom{...}"
so the lower margin is set automatically and placing the actual visible
label via
set label "..." at graph 1,xxx right
The problem is, that I have to figure out the correct values for xxx via
trial-and-error, whenever I change the size of the plot. Is it possible
to just move the xlabel (ylabel) to the desired position, namely the
very right (top) of the graph in a kind of automatic way?
I am very sure, that my solution is ugly and far away from the 'correct'
solution.
Just in case, there is not such a solution already implemented, I think
it is rather simple for experts to add this feature?

Oops, sorry. I was too quick to answer.
The line you have to change is not the one that says
<g id="gnuplot_plot_1_keyentry" ...
That changes the visibility of the key entry itself.
The visibility of the corresponding plot can be changed on a
preceeding line.
An example change to hide plot 1 on entry would look like this:

I want to plot the parametric function x(t) = t+log(t+1) y(t) = sqrt(t)+sin(t) from t=0 to t=2 in steps of dt = 0.2 using circles of radius 0.05 (instead of points) I searched for about 2 hours but could not find how to do this directly in gnuplot. I could create a data file and then plot that, but I want to plot the functions directly. Is there a way to do that in gnuplot? Thank you. |

Although I am not a big expert, I can tell you that I have had the same problem when using "pdflatex" (that is the quality of the document is not very good, sometimes messed up). So I decided to follow the good old-fashioned way. That is, assuming that you now have a good figure (plot.eps) file. You put it inside your maindocument.tex. Then do > latex maindocument > dvips -o maindocument.ps maindocument.dvi > ps2pdf maindocument.ps The resulting file "maindocument.pdf" is now of a good quality and the figure inside has the same quality as the original plot.eps . It is just two lines more; so, what's the problem? Hope this helps. Hello I am using epslatex terminal of gnuplot in standalone mode to make plots. As you know, this terminal produces a .tex file (containing all texts to be shown on plot) as well as an .eps file. (Let's call them plot.tex & plot.eps). Then I run the following commands:latex plot.tex dvips -E -o finalplot.eps plot.dviThis produces the file finalplot.eps, which I use in my main .tex document. Now, the problem is that, after converting to .pdf using PdfLaTeX, especially when I zoom in, I notice that the quality of the text inside the plot is not as good as the quality of the other texts in the document. It seems as if the text inside the plot is rendered without anti-aliasing. What can I do to improve its quality? I also have another question: How can I be sure that all the fonts are embedded in the .eps file? Hi all, I'd like to specify. I've found that on linux, I get GPVAL_ERRNO set (not GPVAL_ERRMSG) but the execution go on. Contrary on windows, The execution is aborted, "popen failed" printed out and GPVAL_ERRNO and GPVAL_ERRMSG are not set. This is worse. Well, I can set some variable and reset it after syscalls, so I know if loaded ended successfully, but it should work better I guess. Iva |

I don't have anything useful to offer regarding gnuplot on Android. I am surprised, given the language and locked-down nature of Android devices in general, that gnuplot's dependent C libraries (qt, wxt, even cairo, ...) or the interfaces and system calls needed by them would be available to a user. That said, you've asked about gnuplot 3, which is around 20 years old. Whatever I might be able to offer regarding gnuplot certainly doesn't apply that far back. I would like to know if here are active members with an android tablet where this version of gnuplot has been installed & used that are willing to share their knowledge with me? Have read & re-read my post to check if there's something faulty about it and found nothing!
