After trying in multiple ways of obtaining a recent version finally had to choose 3.7. Finding the corresponding user manual was even more dificult. After learning a few tricks decided to try to write a few scripts but the problem is "really" where & how to put them in order that gnuplot can find & execute them... Within gnuplot itself I can execute <!dir> and I got strucked by a screen much like a dos one??? I've ES File Explorer in the Kindle Fire gen #5 and can't find any of the files that that dir command shows; apparently they're within a restricted place to where I've no access. Without it, my question again is: how can I make & save a script in order that gnuplot find & execute them? Thanks in advanced for any help on this! PS. If anyone from here knows a more recent version that may work with this tablet let me know. |

you could use xerrorbars... I suspect an issue with x2tics. First, putting a newline before the title did exactly nothing. Oh, well. tmargin 5 had the expected effect, but left the very large gap between the title and the x2tics labels. If I remove the labels, the gap between the title and the graph shrinks significantly to what it should be and the title is properly placed wit no adjustment needed. If I add x2tics labels, the gap between the labels and the title increases significantly and title moves up to the point that it no longer fits. the size of the font does have an impact, but, in all cases the title moves up to near (small font) the top of the image or past it (larger font). With Cantarell Regular it hits the top at 16 points but is right at the top for any size font. To me (and Ihave not looked at the code) it looks like the problem is with the space allowed for the x2tics labels. It appears that the space allocated is at least twice the appropriate size that is used to calculate the position of the title. Thansk again for looking at this and I hope you can either track it down or that someone else has and it will make it into either 5.0.6 or 5.1, whichever comes first. I the meantime, tmargin is an acceptable work-around. I am not seeing a problem like this at the moment, but possibly part way through the series of patches there was period when the page layout was incorrect. PostScript (the language) does not support UTF-8.
There is nothing gnuplot can do about that.
Work-arounds are possible, but rather painful.
If you want to pursue this, you could start by reading the file
.../gnuplot/term/PostScript/unicode_maps.README
It would be much easier to switch to
another terminal type that natively supports utf-8.
If your copy of gnuplot was not built with support for cairo or tikz,
perhaps you can take that up with whoever builtit?
Of the terminals you list as available, svg would be the best best.

I need to ensure the gnuplot command file itself is in utf-8 Given the above, here are the commands I am using for 1. and 2.: set term png size 1600x1200 enhanced set encoding utf-8 Here is the linux command I use for part 3: iconv -f iso-8859-1 -t utf-8 -o <utf-8_file> <original_file> I want to use greek characters in my xlabels. Every example I find online says to simply copy the greek character from somewhere else and directly paste it into my gnuplot command file. The problem I have is that the text editor I am using (Nedit) does not seem to support these symbols and they appear as '?' when I try to paste them from somewhere else. This then produces a '?' character in my plot. Is there a way to specify the character using its hex code? For example, the lowercase Greek 'mu' has code 0x3BC. I tried using all of the following to reference this character: 03BC "03BC" "U+03BC" "\UO3BC" "\u03BC" But all of these strings end up being interpreted literally and do not produce a 'mu' character. Is there some specific syntax I can use to display a unicode character using its hex code? |

I am developing some open-source bioinformatics software that uses gnuplot to visualize sequence alignment results. I'd like to be able to distribute gnuplot with my program without having to rely on the users having to install gnuplot themselves. My software calls on gnuplot to produce plots using the pngcairo terminal. I know that OS X doesn't like static linking of binaries (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5259249/creating-static-mac-os-x-c-build) but I think the only library that I'd really need to static link would be the cairo libraries. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to how I might be able to manage producing "universal-ish" binaries of gnuplot for OS X and Linux platforms with only a very limited set of statically-linked terminal options? Hi Tatsuro Here are a range of options outside of gnuplot in a linux/unix/BSD shell that should work: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/742466/how-can-i-reverse-the-order-of-lines-in-a-file you can call a shell command from within gnuplot to do that if necessary. Dear everyone, My current setting is 'set key box lw 0.5 reverse Left width 1', however, the space between the sample point&words and the box border is still too large for me. I have tried to use some smaller number like 'set key box lw 0.5 reverse Left width 0.001' in my script, but the width seems will not change anymore. I could not change the space between the key and the box borders. Could you please tell me how to do that? Another question is that, in x11 terminal, I can use 'test' to see the results of linetype, linewidth and so on. If I set terminal to postscript, typing 'test' gives lots of words which is not so easy to understand. How can I output the illustration of the test results. Any help would be much appreciated!
