If gnuplot can help with this If I sold 4 burgers at 4:00 5 burgers at 5:00 6 burgers at 6:00 how many burgers might I be expected to sell at 7:00? then the method must be well buried in the docs. Please use my example to add documentation on how to plot beyond the input range. |

This won't work. Gnuplot never "receives" data (i.e. it doesn't have
any way to push data into a running session). It "requests" data, if
and when you give it a {|s|re}plot command.
So the "receiving" will have to be done by some other program, which can
then remote-control an instance of gnuplot through a command pipe,
sending it "replot" commands or complete new plot commands every once in
a while.

Hello all, Can gnuplot be used to generate real-time graphs? I have an ADC that sends its acquired data to a database. I am then wanting to send that data to gnuplot to generate graphs as it receives the data. More like "refresh" when it receives new data, thus giving it a "real-time" effect. Hello all, I'm using Gnuplot for Windows, and I need the font of my plot's title larger. Doing something like... set title "Blah" font "20" ... or... set title "Blah" font "Arial,20" ... doesn't have any effect. When I use 'term windows', the title appears in the default size. When I tried writing it to a PNG file, I got the error message "Could not find/open font while printing string Blah with font Arial". Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! - Mike |

That's not "sorting" along the x axis, that's positioning the impulses where your x axis data say they should be. That's what x axis data are *for*. Well taking some data file junk.txt as
42 100
15 90
23 50

And within gnuplot using the command
plot "junk.txt" w i
I need to see the bars in descending size as the input is sorted, what
I see on my end gnuplot v. 4.0.0, is sorted along the x axis. A
spreadsheet will do what I want without any extra manipulation but I
just wanted to automate the process with gnuplot instead.

You should have got two output files, one holding the EPS part, the other holding a LaTeX fragment to be \included into your LaTeX document. It's hardcoded into lots of bits and pieces, in functions boundary() and boundary_3d(), which are about the two biggest and messiest functions in all of gnuplot's source code. Definitely "Ye who enter here, let go of all hope" material. |

Hi, I have this little question about gnuplot (surprisingly :-). I would like to plot two functions of test values into one plot. Alas, these two values are both a result of the "function" something(packet loss), but the result differs in size by at least a magnitude. example: function one: function two: loss result loss result 0 1200 0 1.3 2 1220 2 2 4 1240 4 3 6 1300 6 3.3 8 1400 8 3.7 10 1450 10 3.9 ... ... if I plot them now into one "normal" plot the second one will be a straight line. Now I have seen plots where both y-axes are labelled differently - the left with one scale, the right with another. my question now: ist that possible with gnuplot? (I guess not, but I ask anyways ;-) thanks in advance & greetings, axel. |

In another matter, it could be useful to have the internal variables defined while plotting stored somewhere after the plot is done, which would leave the possibility for the user to access them. A new feature ? Of course, I could use gri for postscript output... |
