The y axis title of the 1st plot is in Times 16, the two others in Times 12 (same for the tics). I align my 3 axes with lmargin. I want the axes titles to be aligned one with the other (ie, same vertical baseline). I can fiddle around with the x,y values in ylabel to get the title of plot #2 to bw aligned with plot #1, by trial and error. It's long, and not reproducible. So, I wondered at what distance from the y axis are the labels positioned by default (OK, I guess it depends on the terminal, on the font size....) ? Is there a better way to write axes titles on the page/screen ? |

Hi. I'm not sure if there is a solution for this problem: I want to read a single value from another datafile than the plotted file, and store the value in a variable for calculations while plotting. The second datafile contains also columns of datas. So I have to specify the position of the value (field) where to read from. e.g. myvar = 'this_value_has_to_be_read_from_a_special_position_of_a_file' plot 'datafile' using (($1-myvar)/86400):($3/$2*100) Any ideas? Hey, I am working on using gnuplot in a source code I am modifying. However, in your documentation I couldn't find anything, which said how to pass an array of pointers into gnuplot. For example: I want to pass int *hist[..]; into gnuplot so as to plot a graph using the address of each cell (0,1,2,3....) as the x-axis and the value contained in each as the y-axis. Should I stream the array into a text/binary file and then use the program? Hello, I'm writing some templates, and I'd like to access some of the plot internal variables (eg, maximum and minimum of x values, as determined by an autoplot; R2 of a fit; automatic label offset ...). For example, in Gri, the maximum x value is stored in the internal variable .xright. (or eqvlt, I haven't checked), and it's pretty easy to use this value in some labels. Another application I have in mind is to align axes labels in a multiplot graph: aligning the axes is obvious, but I have to rely on trial/error to get axes labels on the same baseline Could anybody point me to some resources ? In gnuplot 4.1 you can do the following to get print formating:
print sprintf("value: %.2f",VALUE)
This requires that gnuplot is compiled with the following experimental
option:

I think it is --- you just don't recognize it because you're looking at
the wrong piece of information.
'set size square' will give you a square-shaped *plotting area*, not a
square image file.

I want to achieve something like in C like print "Value: %.2f",VALUE such that the double number VALUE is grinte on the screen with only two cifers at the right of the decimal point. Hi everybody,
I'm new on this list.
I'm still using gnuplot version 3.7 because I cann't install version 4.0
but this is another story :-)
In my file ".gnuplot" I have the following lines :
set terminal pstricks
set size square
This should give me a graph whith the same unit on x and y axis ; but in
the output file I obtain :
\psset{unit=5.0in,xunit=5.0in,yunit=3.0in}
\pspicture(0.000000,0.000000)(1.000000,1.000000)
This is obviously not what I want !
If I print it to be sure, it's not good.
If I substitute the line :
set terminal pstricks
with
set terminal pstricks unit
(has said in the info)
or with something like
set terminal pstricks unit=15.0cm
the first line mentionned in the output file, that is to say
\psset{unit=5.0in,xunit=5.0in,yunit=3.0in}
simply disappears.
What is wrong with my set terminal command ?

Hi, I have a problem with logarithmic tics. If I set the xrange limits to integer powers of 10 (1, 10, 100, 1000, ...), everything works fine. But try this simple example with gnuplot-4.0: set logscale x set xrange[50:5000] set xtics 10 set mxtics 10 set grid x y mx plot sin(log(x)) As you may notice, the minor x-tics between 50 and 100 are present as expected, but the ones between 1000 and 5000 are not! Now type the commands set mxtics default replot and the minor x-tics for x>1000 are present as expected. The same behaviour applies to a logarithmic y-axis. Is this a bug or a feature?
