if you would do a normal 'splot', selection of data section using 'every'
would work, but with 'matrix' gnuplot tries to figure out what the
dimensions
of the matrix are, and there it fails due to those non-data lines (e.g. 'k =
1').

I'd like to generate plots on the fly, from c and fortran programs.
Up to now, in linux, I have found no problem at all.
In windows using cygwin, everything ok.
When using pgnuplot, I discovered that binary pipes are not properly
handled. The following program produces a weird plot
when used as a pipe, while I can write data to a file and plot them without
problems.
Notice that I tried to open the pipe in "binary" (is the distinction between
binary and text files still present in wondows?) but the result is the same.
I'm wondering whether pgnuplot correctly handles binary data...

I need to skip the first 3 lines then splot the first set of data forming 3 by 3 matrix, and then skip a line, splot the second set of data forming 3 by 3 matrix again ... How can I do that? If I use splot 'file' ev 4:6 matrix , then it complains that Matrix does not represent a grid, Can anybody explain where the above command goes wrong? Thank you very much!! |

I have a data file with thousands of blocks of data, I can use plot 'file' u 2:3 index 1:1 to plot say the 1st block of data, I need to continuously plot the 2nd, 3rd .... of data on the same figure, cleaning the previous one when drawing the present one, till it reaches the end of the file. Between two plots, there should be an adjustable delay so as to give some visual effect. This is very helpful for me to track the evolution of the process. Meanwhile, if this animation could be saved as say .gif file, it would be great! I don't know whether it is possible to realize in gnuplot. Hi! I'm am plotting many graphs in one plot, by using plot 'data.txt' matrix using ($1/M):($3) notitle with lines where M is the number of data points in one of the directions (but that is not important here). The M is necessary to normalize the axis scale in the x-direction. I get one graph in the plot for each line in the data file. The data file is simply of the form N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N N . . But I would like each graph to have a different colour. Does anyone know how to do this?
