Hello, I have problem with plotting data using epslatex terminal. All text is typeset in white color, which makes it unreadable on white backgroud. This happens even with blacktext option for the terminal. I use gnuplot 4.2 patchlevel 3 and 4. This problem never occured to me before, just with this special combination of pm3d, map view, xrange etc... My script with minimal failing example, input data and resulting pdf generated by pdflatex is available at http://www.roucka.eu/tmp/ The only solution that I found was to search and replace s/white/black/ in the traj2.tex file. Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug in gnuplot? Thanks for any help Stepan Roucka |

Hi all, Use gnuplot already ages, still I don't know all. E.g. I produce year plots of something, very simple datafile, one column: plot 'data' using 0:1 pt 7 ps 0.5 etc. Suppose I want to make a vertical line at today's date, exactly from top to bottom axis. I want to keep autoscale for y because that produces nicer plots. How to draw that line? I don't know the exact maximum gnuplot will choose for it's maximum. Any ideas? Hello. Using gnuplot 4.2 patchlevel 4 on an ArchLinux system. Please have a look at those two PNG images, which have been generated by Gnuplot: http://public-files.askwar.s3.amazonaws.com/gnuplot_diff_date_extracted/all-in-one/load.0319.png http://public-files.askwar.s3.amazonaws.com/gnuplot_diff_date_extracted/seperated/load.0319.png As you'll notice, the curves look VERY different. But they shouldn't look different... For the first graph (the "all-in-one" image), I gave Gnuplot a big CSV file containing all the values from this month. To make it plot only the curve for one day (for 2009-03-19), I used: set xrange [ "2009-03-19 00:00:00" : "2009-03-19 23:59:59" ] In the 2nd image (in the "seperated" directory), I first grepped out all the lines matching "2009-03-19" and then didn't use a "set xrange" at all. Another way to get this, would have been to do plot "< grep 2009-03-19 val.2009-03.csv" ... What I don't get at all is, why the curves look so different. They shouldn't look different, should they? I use GnuPlot to obtain a 3D diagram of measured data. Since I have two
different graphs within the plot I use the "title" command after "splot"
to define which graph stands for which measured data.
However, I have issues with using math commands/symbols within this
environment. I've already figured out how to integrate greek symbols, e.g.:
set term postscript eps enhanced monochrome
set output "<FILENAME>.eps"
splot "file.csv" using 2:1:3 with lines title "CI_{max} <= {/Symbol m}
+- 0.212"
Now I want to change the "+-" to the common math symbol, e.g. within
LaTeX "\pm"... Unfortunately, it seems like I can't produce such symbols
within this environment?!
BTW - I've already figured out how to produce tex files that comprises
math commands (set terminal latex)... but this somehow does not work
well together with the LaTeX-Paper-template I have to use for the
considered publication.
Any suggestions?

Hello, I am trying to do a region plot in gnuplot. The region is defined as : 5/4 < rg^2 * (x + y)/x < 2 rg is some fixed parameter. I can't find a good and easy way to plot this. gnuplot supports logscale with box plots,
but you may have missed the warning
"y range must be greater than 0 for log scale"

I got two questions here, (1) how to undo the enlarged region back to the original region? one can press the right button of the mouse and move to select a region in the graphic display to enlarge the graph and release the button to view the details, but how to restore to the original scale after I finished viewing the details? I have to type in command set auto x and set auto y to restore it, but I guess there is simple mouse operation to do that ... (2) how to restore the x/y scale orientation? After I crazily clicked on the graphic screen, it mysteriously switched the y axis to increase from up corner to low corner(the default is from low to up), how to switch it back to the default? the 'range' is an interval, so a range specification consists of 2 numbers.
what you are looking for are the x-axis tics at the specified positions:
set xrange [1:70]
set xtics 5
set xtics add (1)

Hi,
I am new to gnuplot and was wondering how to specify the range of plot to be
a list of discrete numbers? For example, I have a file data.dat consisting
of a list of numbers each of which corresponds to the one of the same
position in [1 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 65 70]. If I try
plot [1 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 65 70] '${data.dat}' w l lt 1 lc
1 lw 6
I would get error with an arrow pointed at "5", saying "':' or keyword 'to'
expected"
