I think writeback or restore option in xrange cannot help to solve my problem. For example, set xrange[0:1100] (with any option) p 'temp.dat' u 1:2 w lp #last snapshot # to draw 1st snapshot, i use p[0:100] 'temp.dat' u 1:2 w lp # then the range of x immediately change to 0-100 not fixed range of 0-1100. I can't do that by using xrange option. In the help, They used funtion such as sin(x) and x/2 not a data. Here is a point. >From one data, I should draw part of one graph under fixed xrange. To do so, I have to use p[0:100], p[100:200], and so on. Then I can't fix the xrange. Let's consider following 2 column data named as temp.dat: Step Temp 0 122 100 102 200 112 300 122 400 153 500 143 600 111 700 132 800 142 900 152 1000 102 1100 112 What I want to do is 1) obtain 12 snapshots in which the 1st snapshot file has just one point, (0,122) and the 2nd snapthot have two points including former (0,122) and next (100,102) with lines, and the followings have same rule. So the final snapshot file is same one as what plotted using "p[0:1100] temp.dat u 1:2 w lp". However, my problem is that I can't fix the x range to [0:1100] when making 1st through 11st snapshots. All snapshots should be same x or y range to give an animated effect, but I can't draw a point with fixed range. Does anybody know how to handle it? Thanks. Joe |

Throw away the data point at x=0 (and all other exact multiples of \pi, of course) before you pass the data to the 'fit' command. |

In order to verify the formula I need to make a fit with the function f(x)=a*1/(sin(x/2)**4). Like you can see I get for x=0 a little mathematical problem. The following picture shows the fit in green and how I would like it to be in blue. There are, of course other ways of doing this in earlier gnuplots, depending on the terminal chosen. PNG, for example has a syntax that allows background, foreground, and other colors to be specified. I have found that black-background graphs are especially stunning visually and have converted all my graphs to work that way. I suppose this might not work so well for printing. If your source is a database query you might consider rewriting it if you can to avoid such ugliness. another trick for the x labels is set xtics nomirror out rotate by -45 which outputs the labels diagonally so you can squeeze more in. Your parentheses weren't balanced (easy to fix). 2. \\n doesn't work in that place. I had to change it to '."\n".'. That is, put it in quotes and use string concatenation. Hello I'm producing a series of different plots in eps format, which have the same aspect ratio but different values for the y-axis tic labels. I've tried adjusting the lmargin, but it seems to me there's a further scale change when the eps is produced, such that the width of the actual eps plot incl labels fits in the page. How's it possible to override this scale change when producing the eps? Or is there some other setting that would force an arbitrary measure of the width of the plot ? your suggestion, but my problem is I wrote gnu plot command in bash, so the
mark of $ causes the error . For clearness, below is my script. I wrote my
script in bash because I must run the same script for many years.
