Need full using spec for x time data
(I understand that some of the settings may not be optimal. For example,
the boxwidth. I would expect to tune these once I see some output.)
A little searching hints that this message may be somewhat misleading.
That what it really means is that a "format" must be added. But perhaps
that hint is wrong? I've tried adding '%lf', '%lf-%lf', and '%lf-%lf
%lf' but the error persists.
Can anyone tell me the right way to generate this plot?

Hello I'm producing a series of different plots in eps format, which have the same aspect ratio but different values for the y-axis tic labels. I'd like to have them all with the same size, that is, that the plot itself has the same size, regardless of the width of the tic labels. I've tried adjusting the lmargin, but it seems to me there's a further scale change when the eps is produced, such that the width of the actual eps plot incl labels fits in the page. How's it possible to override this scale change? Hello, I am doing a 3D plot where I have to plot some points colored by their z-value. unset key set palette splot 'file1.txt' using 1:2:3 with points palette pointtype 7 pointsize 0.75 But I also want to plot a vector on each point with the same color as the previous plotted point. So I use splot 'file1.txt' using 1:2:3 with points palette pointtype 7 pointsize 0.75, 'vecs.txt' using 1:2:3:4:5:6:(3) with vectors linetype palette but I get the color of the vectors from the sixth coordinate in the 'vecs.txt' file which is always zero in my case and I end up with all black vectors. I know that I could do splot 'file1.txt' using 1:2:3 with points palette pointtype 7 pointsize 0.75, 'vecs.txt' using 1:2:3:4:5:6 with vectors linetype palette cb 3 but I want to have the color determined by the third coordinate which gives the height of each point. But still if could the system automatically determine the range of the y values, say u 3:(?):(?), then system automatically determines ( ...y=? ...) = mean of the y range in the other plots, or in default at 0, (...yerr=? ...) = standard deviation of y values in the other plots, or in default at 1. it seems to me the above functionality is not hard to implement since there has been use of (), if there could be a check for ? during syntax sparse, then accumulate mean and/or std from other column of output. It seems to me adding this functionality does not interfere with other existing functionalities .. I tried this with a different terminal type (windows) instead of wxt, and did not see the same behavior, so perhaps it is a bug with the wxt terminal in windows. Hello, I have a program that spawns a wgnuplot process by: "wgnuplot datafile.gp -" in MS Windows. For version 4.2, the spawned wgnuplot process gets killed when the plot window is closed. For version 4.3+ the plot window goes away, but the wgnuplot process sticks around. This causes problems after a while as there end up being many wgnuplot processes running in the background. Did something change between 4.2 and 4.3+ that would cause this behavior? I have a dynamic script, fired by cgi that prints a graph. Data is dynamically supplied by the script in two plots. It is possible that either or both of the two plots might contain no data. I just realized that when one of the two plots is empty no graph was being emitted at all, even though the other plot had data. The plot command I used was: plot "-" u 1:2 ti "Weekday" w impulses, "-" u 1:2 ti "Weekend" w impulses <a bunch of data> e e I expected to see the Weekday series and not the Weekend, but instead saw nothing. It was easy enough to fix this in the script with if logic, but arguably, shouldn't I expect gnuplot to plot something if I give it something even if one of the series is blank? |
