I'm struggling to get a plot which includes both yerrorbars and lines connecting the data points. I want something like: plot "data" title "t" with linespoints yerrorbars lw 3 ps 2 for example, but I get a parse error after the "linespoints". I can plot with just yerrorbars, but then there's nothing connecting my data. I can plot with just lines or linespoints, but then of course I don't get my error bars. I tried giving my data file twice and notitle'ing the second time, but I can't seem to get the lines and error bars to be the same color. This is despite using `set line style' to explicitly set line colors, which seem to get ignored/silently changed if they overlap with another color. Hello, I'm quite new to gnuplot, and I have a question regarding a feature of splot with pm3d. I want to plot different 3d data (using dgrid3d) on a same graph (four different surfaces that can be intersecting each other). I use the splot with pm3d in order to plot the four surfaces, and with set pm3d depthorder, gnuplot manages nicely the surfaces drawing, as if there was a z-buffer. I also use transparent fill so we can see through each surface. Now, I want each surface to have a wireframe on it. I use set pm3d hidden3d <linestyle> in order to do so, but in this case, all my four surfaces will have the same line color. However, I would like the wireframe of each surface have different colour. How can I define different pm3d styles that I could use after during splot ? Something looking like splot "mydata" u 1:2:3 with pm3d style 1, '' u 1:2:4 with pm3d style 2, ... Is it possible ? I can of course plot one surface, change the style of pm3d, and then plot a second surface... But, in this case, the ordering of the surfaces is no more correctly made (the last drawn surface is on top of all the others). you are only plotting one surface and your color specification is not correct (linecolor rgb "#aabbcc") you don't need any linecolor, linewidth, title, ... options when 'plotting' into a table: splot "data.txt" using 1:2:5, "data.txt" using 1:2:4 is sufficient. have a look at the 'table' file with a normal text editor - you will realize that there are isolines for 2 surfaces, separated by a double linefeed. and - there are only 3 numbers for each data point - only 'using 1:2:3' will work. your plot command will have to plot 2 surfaces, selected using the 'index' option: splot 'tmp2.dat' using 1:2:3 index 0 with lines title "w1s" lc rgb "#005500" linewidth 2.5, 'tmp2.dat' using 1:2:3 index 1 with lines title "w1" lc rgb "#000000" linewidth 2.5 I'm using GNUPLOT 4.2 patchlevel 2 for Windows (32 BIT). gnuplot uses the z-value as gray-value and then converts the gray-value into a color by using a palette. have a look at http://www.gnuplot.info/docs/node215.html or get the gnuplot source code and figure out how the color mapping is done. i'm unable to reproduce this. please provide the gnuplot version you are using and information about which terminal you are using. This works fine. However: you can't use colors this way for several plots, i.e. ... splot 'tmp.dat' using 1:2:($1>$2?$3:0/0) with lines lc rgb "#666666", 'tmp.dat' using 1:2:($1>$2?$3:0/0) with lines lc rgb "#000000"; just produces two black plots which is confusing. But this mechanism doesn't work for an operand that begins an expression. IIRC, "".i.""/namefile" should work. |

Hi all,
I want to plot some files with the same name located in some progressively
number folders (i.e.: 1, 2, 3, 4 ...) all at the same path level. So,
starting from the parent directory I do a
plot for[i=1:4] i."/namefile" u 1:3 w linespoints
but then I get:
internal error : STRING operator applied to non-STRING type
Is there a way to solve this? It is a bit strange, cause if I have some
progressively numbered files, instead: namefile1, namfile2, namfile3, and
so forth, I can do - from the directory where files are:
plot for[i=1:3] "namefile".i u 1:3 w linesp
and get the result I want. Do you have any idea?

It is free to use and the anti-alias cario based give a smooth graph. It requires recent cairo, pango, glib, and intl (freetype, fontconfig?) (linpng, this is required for pngcairo but not pdfcairo. I don't think your description of what you're trying to do is workable, most likely because you've reduced it too far from what you're actually trying todo. You'll have to show an actual, complete example. What are those functions, what do they have to do with the data files, and what is it you're actually trying to achive? |

the light flux from the two light sources seems to be totally independent, that's what the function > total_flux(x) = K*flux_A(x) + L*flux_B(x) suggests. so there is no need to do a combined fit. just fit the two curves separately. otherwise, if the x-values are all the same in corresponding lines of both data sets, you may combine the data sets outside of gnuplot and then work with the combined data file. on unix-like system you may use the 'join' command. super zach wrote: > > Hi all > > I am trying to fit a function that takes data from two files. I think most solutions to this problem will involve some sort of wrapper script, which will check whether the file is really there and then do some renaming magic.
