[Gnuplot-info] How to plot HeatMap by ourselves?

I want to plot some data in my own program, just like using the "set pm3d map" statement in gnuplot.
But I find that it is very complicated to transfer from a double value to a RGB triple.
It is not linear, and not symmetrical among R, G and B.

Could you tell me the formula?
