Open source software for processing XTF files
This project was born from a stage at the "Signals and Images Lab (si.isti.cnr.it), Institute of Information Science and Technologies of the National Research Council of Italy". ImageJforXTF extends the open source ImageJ software with functionalities that allow to open and manage XTF files. This kind of files is used to record sonar and bathymetric data. An user can choose to open any file with extension ".xtf" so that the program parses it and shows the resulting image. Then the user can resize the image, apply graphic filters, perform measurements and georeference the recorded data using GoogleMap and GoogleEarth, in addition to using the basic functionality offered by ImageJ. -

A MATLAB toolbox to simulate optical systems
Modal Interferometer Simulation Tool (MIST) is a MATLAB toolbox that can simulate arbitrary resonant optical systems in the paraxial beam approximation. It allows the user to define any optical setup (composed typically of laser sources, mirrors, lenses, electro-optical modulators and detectors) and to compute the static laser field at any point. It uses a Hermite-Gauss modal decomposition to simulate diffraction limited optics. This tool is being developed mainly for simulation of large scale interferometers with resonant cavities used for the detection of gravitational waves. PlaTec
Plate Tectonics simulator
PlaTec is a 2D terrain generator that uses a simplified model of plate tectonics to produce realistic heightmaps in real time. The simulator starts with a flat fractal map and splits it randomly into plates. Plates are moved around the map. If continents of two plates collide, they fold creating mountain belts. If oceanic crust of one plate collides with another plate, subduction occurs resulting in coastal mountain ranges or island chains. This project is part of my Bachelor of Engineering thesis in Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki, Finland. Free and Open Source Technical Analysis Charting Software
QChartist is a free and open source technical analysis charting software. Its purpose is to provide a complete set of tools to perform technical analysis on charts and data. It helps to make forecasts mainly for markets but can also be used for weather or any quantifiable data. The program is flexible and its functionalities can be easily extended. You can draw geometrical shapes on your charts or plot programmable indicators from your data. It is also possible to filter or merge data. I got a little inspired from MT4 allowing a fairly easy portability of programmed indicators from MT4 to QChartist. It is now faster and much more professional thanks to the use of a C++ layer (used mostly for calculations) over the standard Basic layer (used mostly for the GUI interface). You can use astro indicators and functions from a library for astronomical calculations. You can get real time quotations thanks to Yahoo Finance, Alpha Vantage, Tiingo, Stooq, Finnhub and Twelvedata data sources. -
