CloudCompare is a 3D point cloud (and triangular mesh) processing software. It was originally designed to perform comparison between two 3D points clouds (such as the ones obtained with a laser scanner) or between a point cloud and a triangular mesh. It relies on an octree structure that is highly optimized for this particular use-case. It was also meant to deal with huge point clouds (typically more than 10 million points, and up to 120 million with 2 GB of memory). -

Lima VVA is a lightweight Windows application for road design and earthwork calculation. It is suitable for small to medium projects, where ease-of-use, low cost and quick results are paramount. It lets the user design the road interactively, while the geometry and earthwork quantities are automatically calculated in the background. By manipulating the construction parameters, other earthworks can be calculated, such as ditches, embankments, land fills, building sites — in short, anything suitable for the cross-section method. Parametric analysis is often needed for exploring design options, especially when a global optimization method is not available, or the optimization result is in doubt. Parametric analysis can also be applied to all design variables simultaneously, which forms an exhaustive search that, providing that the search grid is fine enough, will guarantee a global optimum solution. In order to perform complex parametric analyses on multiple parameters with more than a handful of alternative values each, a tool to generate commands for the simulation model to run, and to collect results afterwards will be needed. jEPlus has been developed as such a parametric tool for EnergyPlus. It’s useful for creating cylindrical shapes such as pots, flasks, vases, bowls, plates, cups, glasses, goblets, or anything similar. The outer wall of the pot is drawn using a spline, which consists of one or more curved or linear segments. The inner wall is generated automatically. PotterDraw can export files suitable for 3D printing. It can also map synthesized or user-specified textures onto the pot.
