Squashfs is a highly compressed read-only filesystem for Linux. Squashfs compresses both files, inodes and directories, and supports block sizes up to 1Mbytes for greater compression. It is implemented as a kernel module under VFS.

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot image that securely wipes hard disk drives (HDDs). DBAN is appropriate for personal use, bulk data destruction, or emergency data destruction for HDDs, but is not recommended for solid-state drives (SSDs), sanitization that requires auditable compliance documentation, or technical support.

VeraCrypt is a free disk encryption software brought to you by IDRIX (https://www.idrix.fr) and based on TrueCrypt 7.1a. It adds enhanced security to the algorithms used for system and partitions encryption making it immune to new developments in brute-force attacks. It also solves many vulnerabilities and security issues found in TrueCrypt. This enhanced security adds some delay ONLY to the opening of encrypted partitions without any performance impact to the application use phase. This is acceptable to the legitimate owner but it makes it much harder for an attacker to gain access to the encrypted data. It is easy to use without any complicated scripting or a huge load of configuration settings. You can filter the files processed by size, number of fragments, file name and path. You can terminate the process early by specifying an execution time limit.

S3cmd is a free command line tool and client for uploading, retrieving and managing data in Amazon S3 and other cloud storage service providers that use the S3 protocol, such as Google Cloud Storage. cramfs is a Linux filesystem designed to be simple, small, and to compress things well. It is used on a number of embedded systems and small devices.

Frhed is an binary file editor for Windows. It is small but has many advanced features like ability to load big files partially.

httpfs depends on FUSE. It uses HTTP/1.1 extensions to read arbitrary bytes from a file on a web-server. This is particular interesting for an iso, since it can be investigated (loop device) without actually downloading the whole iso.

Partclone is a project like the well-known backup utility "Partition Image" a.k.a partimage. Partclone provide utilities to back up used blocks and design for higher compatibility of the file system using supported library like e2fslibs.

IMG4DC is a tools package containing two utilities to generate selfboot disc images for your Sega Dreamcast: cdi4dc, designed to make Padus DiscJuggler (CDI) images and mds4dc, designed to make Alcohol 120% (MDS/MDF) images. A selfboot image is a disc image format specially prepared to boot on your Dreamcast. In clear, by burning a selfboot image to a standard blank CD-R, the software containted into this disc image will run onto your Dreamcast, as a legit game disc, without any modchip or other hacking device. To use this software package, you must have mkisofs from the cdrtools project. This tool will create the ISO image needed by img4dc.
