For governments, companies and communities that want digital sovereign communication for their entire ecosystem, protected by end-to-end encryption.

About Element

Element is a Matrix-based end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) secure collaboration and messaging app.

It provides instant messaging, voice and video calls, screen sharing and file sharing; for 1:1s to huge chat rooms. It’s available to use across Web, Android, iOS, macOS, Windows & Linux.

Its decentralised design delivers digital sovereignty, enabling deployment on-premise or through any cloud provider.

Element Matrix Services (EMS) provides a SaaS version of Element, with fast performance and enterprise-grade add-ons.

Being Matrix-based, Element provides interoperability between traditional siloed apps. It can bridge into proprietary ‘walled garden’ systems such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and Discord.

End-to-end encryption is provided by default to keep users’ conversations and files safe. Cross-signed device verification uses QR codes or emoji comparisons to guard against imposters and eavesdropping.

"Secure, distributed chat - Element is one of the best"

    Posted 2021-05-24

    Pros: - simple, intuitive interface
    - strict security
    - Web client, Android client available
    - Active community

Cons: - strict security (if one forgets password, past secure postings are lost)
    - not as widely known as WA or FBmgr

Overall: Element is a great client to start using secure, distributed chat networks. Once set up, it works and feels like Signal or Telegram, yet it is not owned by anyone per se. Great community to engage in.

    "Best in the world"

    Posted 2020-08-17

Pros: Amazing for Android and PC, the iOS app needs work, the video calls not working good for iPhones and iPads, besides that it's amazing. I am sure they will update the iOS app and fix the video call issues which only effects apple products. I hate Apple anyways overpriced and expensive and hardly anything works on iPhones and iPads.

Cons: Just iPhone iPad video calling issues. These issues will most likely be resolved by the time you read this review.

Overall: Amazing love it, difficult to setup but well worth it you just need to follow documentation and do some googling if you get stuck.
