About

Multi-platform open-source video conferencing. At Jitsi, we believe every video chat should look and sound amazing, between two people or up to 75 participants. Whether you want to build your own massively multi-user video conference client, or use ours, all our tools are 100% free, open source, and WebRTC compatible. Web, Android, iOS, React-native, and Electron apps. Ubuntu and Debian Packages install in minutes. Customize with config files or change the code. Many of the world’s leading WebRTC companies are using Jitsi as part of their product ecosystems. Why? Because Jitsi Videobridge and the projects surrounding it are secure, reliable, lightweight and scalable.

About

With WebRTC, you can add real-time communication capabilities to your application that works on top of an open standard. It supports video, voice, and generic data to be sent between peers, allowing developers to build powerful voice- and video-communication solutions. The technology is available on all modern browsers as well as on native clients for all major platforms. The technologies behind WebRTC are implemented as an open web standard and available as regular JavaScript APIs in all major browsers. For native clients, like Android and iOS applications, a library is available that provides the same functionality. The WebRTC project is open-source and supported by Apple, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla, amongst others. This page is maintained by the Google WebRTC team.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • -no registration needed -you can start a video call very quickly -ability to share YouTube videos on-screen for all participants of the call -breakout rooms functionality
  • With Jitsi I can establish a virtual meeting space to collaborate and attend meetings. End to End encryption. All basic features work great. No difficulty in setting up this solution.
  • It's a quite useful and offers great video quality. Jitsi's mobile application is handy to attend meetings. No account login is required to attend meetings. Open-source platform. Provides some basic security.
  • #1- Jitsi is also available on mobile platforms. #2- It offers lots of integration features to give a seamless experience. #3- It's a web-based platform that also works on the browser.
  • Really easy for meeting participants to join the conference, much easier than other open source solutions. You can control the server yourself, much better for privacy than some closed-source options.

Cons

  • -anybody can mute anybody else in the call, which can create chaos in big groups
  • Some integrations are missing. Overall good app.
  • It worked great for me. Nothing to share about cons.
  • #1- We had a seamless and overall positive experience.
  • A little harder to set up than some paid options like Zoom.
