Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • - Premium features 100% free for nonprofits under 30 employees - Easy for non-technical volunteers - Zapier integrations on free plan
  • The UI is flexible, easy to read and to use. Creating tasks, assigning users, dates et al are super straightforward and cleanly laid out. Being able to represent the boards in different layouts for different users is easy too. Depending on the project the various views change practical usage... eg, Tables are my go-to for task lists, for projects that require timeframes and reporting the gantt view is great, I use kanban for less complex things. Multiple levels of sub-task depth is also great. Other project tools will cut-off at two layers which means you need to abide by the tool's limits whereas freedcamp is more flexible.
  • Easy to understand and set up. Not overly complicated but effective. The layout and structure of the system is very intuitive.
  • We are a non-profit organization and our leadership team has been searching for several years for a tool that would be both effective and easy to use. Freedcamp seems to meet these expectations very well. It helps us organize tasks, manage our internal processes, and improve collaboration within our team. The platform is intuitive and flexible, and it gives us a much clearer structure for our work. We are still exploring all the features, but our experience so far has been very positive.
  • The features are very easy to understand and use. They also integrate a lot of features, which allow my organization to do in one app what it used to do in multiple ones. I particularly like the project management tools!

Cons

  • - Outdated UI design - No workflow automation - Mobile app is clunky
  • It's a bit hard to fault it. There's a light/dark mode for the phone app, tho I'd love a full dark theme for the browser version.
  • So far, there is nothing I would consider a negative.
  • The mobile application could be improved, as it is not always as intuitive or smooth as the desktop version. We are also still learning how to fully use all available features, which can take some time at the beginning. However, these are not major issues and we expect the experience to improve as we continue using the platform.
  • Some features might be a bit easier to be used. For instance, when assigning a task, it might be easier if I can just click on a box and start writing, instead of having to click on "edit task" before doing so. However, this is such a small thing - and so easy to get accustomed to - that it doesn't harm the experience in the slightest.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Notion ended up replacing a bunch of different tools I was bouncing between for notes, tasks, project planning, and random ideas. Having everything in one place makes it way easier to stay organized, especially when work gets hectic. The thing I like most is how flexible it is. You can build pages however you want, create databases, track projects, save documentation, or just use it as a giant digital notebook. It feels like you can make it fit almost any workflow.
  • Notion is a very flexible platform that aims to be able to do almost anything as it relates to collaboration and managing the day to day activities of your team. We originally liked the fact that it offered this all in one approach and would help keep things centralized. It is also easy to use with drag and drop functionality the core to basically every aspect of the product.
  • Flexible workspace allows managing notes, tasks, docs & project. Intuitive editing & toggling with toggleable views.
  • Notion, a versatile all in one workspace, presents several advantages for users seeking a flexible & collaborative digital environment. Its block based structure offers a modular & customizable approach to content creation.
  • Notion is an incredibly flexible platform that integrates project management, documentation, note-taking, and collaboration functionalities into a single program. It supports use cases for both personal and professional use.

Cons

  • When you're first getting started, it can feel like a lot. There are so many options that it's easy to spend more time setting things up than actually using them. I've also noticed that larger pages can get a little slow sometimes.
  • For our team the flexibility ended up being a bit of a downfall. We ended up with so many different pages and areas of the app where people were adding or creating content or tasks. In the end we decided to pair it all back and now use Notion for SoPs and as a wiki only.
  • A very steep learning curve for complex workspaces & databases. Lacks advanced permissions for secure collaboration.
  • The abundance of features initially overwhelm a new user, People may need to take a basic training in order to explore full potential of Notion from start.
  • Although Notion provides offline access, its offline features are not as extensive as those of its online counterpart. When working offline, users might discover that some functionalities aren't available or that updates take longer to sync.
