I just updated my wife=B9s bronze PB G3 with the B5_1 driver (downloaded today) and THEN applied the 10.2.2 update. All seems to be well and working. I had been using the B4 driver on that laptop. Hope that helps a few who maybe waiting to update... -Steve on 11/12/02 6:13 PM, Albert Vernon Smith at alb...@ma... wrote: > I updated to 10.2.2, and now my wireless connection seems to be broken. > Has anyone updated successfully? I have been using Beta 5 for the last few days without problem. Last night I downloaded and installed Apple's new 10.2.2 updater, and nothing I can do this morning has made it work again. It seems that I'm getting signal, but I cannot tell the Network control panel to use the wireless card successfully. Instead of the usual 10.0.1.n DHCP number, I'm getting some 169.nnn.nnn.nnn "self-assigned" IP address, I note. M. Joseph Schaller, Ph.D. |

10.2.2 works as well for me as 10.2.1. I still have the same intermediate drops (can't figure out whats makin' that happen) with 10.2.2 as I did with 10.2.1. For the record, I updated from 10.2.1 (driver 1.0.0b5). I use WAP protection on a closed network. Thanks for any help, -albert |

I read the faq but no matter what I do the pref pane is always grayed out when I try to configure my card. I have tried an Orinoco card and a Cisco card. It recognizes the card and shows an icon that I can select "power off card" but that's it. Can I not use this if I already have an airport card installed? David Rodgers |

Usually when I've seen this, it's been due to WEP, or MAC address filtering. I'd recommend removing all those settings from your access point, so it's wide open, and also making sure you don't have WEP selected on your laptop. If at all possible, if there's another WAP where you can test your card, or another wireless enabled computer you can use in your environment, they can tell you that your laptop is fine, or your WAP is working correctly, respectively. Well, after 3 days of perfect use I've encountered problems with the EnGenuis internal antenna card. I can't tell if its the card, driver or router(base station), but I've had to move the Belkin Cable/DSL Router downstairs within 5ft of my TIpb to get it to work consistently. Seems it keeps losing track of the wireless part of the network, but my iMac wired striaght into the router keeps working. Strange. |

You should upgrade to OS X 10.2.1 and run Software Update once a week=20 and download updates. It is important to keep OS X uptodate. Apple is=20 working all the time on fixing bugs, security leaks and optimizing the=20= system so it is recommended to do it. Anyway to your problem. I have the exact same computer and I got the=20 driver working but I didn't use the installer. I used Pacifist and=20 extractet all files from the archive to the desktop first and installed=20= all the files manually. It has worked great for me. I placed the WirelessDriver PPane.prefPane in /Library/PreferencePanes/=20= and the WirelessDriver.kext in /System/Library/Extensions/. To move=20 the files into the System folders you need to log in as root or use the=20= terminal. After I restarted the computer the card was both recognized and=20 working. I have an EPoX wlan card (pccard156,2). ORiNCO cards should be=20= recognized. I checked the info.plist file inside the wirelessdrive.kext=20= file and the pccard268,1 is not listed there. If you still have=20 problems you can add <string>pccard268,1</string> at the end of the=20 list under <key>IOnameMatch</key>. //Rob On m=E5ndag, nov 11, 2002, at 07:02 Europe/Stockholm, Bob Greene wrote: > The cards show up as being recognized by computer. I have a Powerbook G4 with MAC OSX 10.1.5. I installed my Orinoco card and the WirelessDriverBeta4 driver for it and it worked perfectly. I have upgraded to OSX 10.2 and the card stopped working. I installed the WirelessDriverBeta5_1 with no changes. The light on the card don't even work. OSX still finds the card as an Orinoco WLAN card (Or sonething like that, shows up on the "taskbar"). I have tried using the uninstall utility from the site and reinstall the driver. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. I've got one of these cards, and the driver installation was pretty straightforward for me, for whatever reason. But I can't get WEP to work. Just to confirm, are you guys getting WEP to work or not? Larry, I went through just about the same gyrations trying to install the driver. However I had one more glitch. I could never get the WirelessConfig preference pane to mount. I finally deleted the "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" in the Preferences Folder, opened System Preferences again - and voila - there it was. All in all I'm very impressed. Before the EGenius card, I was lucky to get 25ft out of my TIPowerBook. Now 100ft is no problem! Just to clarify my setup and install: My EnGenius EL-2511CD PLUS Card (internal antenna version) is installed in a Titanium PowerBook G4 550 (Gigabit Ethernet). I use it with a Belkin Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router not a Airport Base Station. The only glitch I encountered was I had to install the wireless driver once with the card inserted, reboot, un-install the wireless driver, reboot (card inserted), install the wireless driver again (card inserted) and reboot one last time. Since then (3 days ago) it has worked perfectly. Larry On Thursday, November 7, 2002, at 10:54 PM, Larry Jarvis wrote: > Worked the same way for me.
