So I don't have Wireless Pref Pane in PreferencePanes but still have good wireless access. Could someone explain it? Milan |

I have a hacked-up version of the driver which works with bsd-airtools on prism2 cards only, and also supports encryption and IBSS mode (but not creation, though mainly for lack of trying) on those cards. But since the next driver is going to be a rewrite anyway, I'm hesitant to release it. ---Non-Darwin geeks skip to next message here--- (How hacked up is it? Well, Apple says you probably shouldn't subclass IOEthernetInterface; I do. Also it doesn't use the command gate appropriately, which can lead to lock-ups if you change SSID while scanning. I really should fix that). |

Does anyone know if the wireless driver does/will support the hostAP mode that the prism chipsets are capable of? If it is not currently possible are there development plans to incorporate this into the driver. Also, are there any tools out there like the WirelessTools for linux that work with this driver? Thanks, Ahmi Wolf |

Can you provide both the OS X build number and a copy of /Library/Logs/panic.log for us to examine? trying to make my TiBook use a cheap D-Link DWL-650 card I bought on Amazom. It seems the card I bought is the CardBus Type II Card, which is new. Is this type of card supported with WIrelessDriver? Went to System Preferences >> Network >> Show:Network Port Configurations. 3. I just purchased a D-Link DWL-650 for use with my TiBook G4/400. I'm running OS X 10.1.5, and I installed WirelessDriver 10.0.0Beta4. After installing everything, all I get is one pane in "Other" for WirelessConfig, but I don't get an extra choice in the network pane for "Ethernet Adpater (en1)." The troubleshooting script reports that "WirelessDriver: couldn't find a WirelessDriver service in registry - is the card loaded?" It does report that all software loaded. (Yes, the card is loaded.) How can I troubleshoot this? The card was cherry out of the box less than an hour ago..... Is there any way to test the PC Card slot? Thanks in advance D2warvi |

O Erudite Ones, I've gotten this far: 1. I see en2 in the network panel, and have it set up exactly like my Airport card but with a different IP address. 2. Lights on the card blink, and the signal strength meter shows a good strong reading. 3. The Wireless Config pane apparently finds my network, because the name shows up, and I didn't enter it. Problems: 1. Can't get through to any host: tried turning Airport off, change IP addresses, but no luck. 2. Signal strength meter registers a good reading even with the card pulled out! Hmm ... This is the same symptoms I had. Somehow, the problem fixed itself. Unfortunately, I can't give much better description than that. I did power down/up my Airport and that did not change anything. The only other thing I did, was disconnect the ethernet cable to use my net connect via the hard line. When I was done using the net (about 2 hours), I plugged it back into the Airport, and then, it worked. Honestly, I don't know what made the issue go away. It just did. -albert On Tuesday, Nov 12, 2002, at 22:20 Atlantic/Reykjavik, M. Joseph Schaller Ph.D. wrote: > I have been using Beta 5 for the last few days without problem.
