I have installed the drivers on my wallstreet running os 10.1 and enabled all settings as in os 9.2. The driver becomes active and appears to be working, however, ip address will not assign from either dhcp nor can I set a local static. I am using a rg 1000 gateway from orinco and a silver card. Osx recognized the card and appears to talk to it. Things work fine in os 9.2. Best regards, David |

Read and respond to this message at: http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=495488 By: rob66778 OK... First off, we don't do anything under 9.2, so any issue you are having there is not related to our software, although that might provide clues later on... The TiBook running the way it's supposed to rules out problems with the base station... Now, just because you see signal strength doesn't mean all is well with the connection. If means you're running on the right channel and have the right network name. If the encryption (WEP) settings are wrong, it'll still show the right signal strength, but you won't be able to communicate. There may be a couple of other problems that cause the same symptoms, but this by far the most common one. If you could send me the output from "sudo kmodstat" when run from a terminal window, it might be helpful (hard to say in advance). Read and respond to this message at: http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=495439 By: nobody Tried it both ways, to no avail. I think the problem is in the Internet connect settings, as I am getting a signal from the card. I worked on this so much now that I am totally confused. I even tried manually setting the IP, etc settings from my cable modem, but realize that that is really what my Airport Base station is using. My G4 is also on the network, with an Airport card. I tried using the same DHCP settings, to no avail. (I would send a screen shot of these, but don't think I can in this forum. I also moved all of the Airport extensions out of the System (9.2) folder, eving though i am booting in 10.1. (Tried booting in 9.2 and have the same issue.) The card is doing what I wanted for my tiBook. Just have to get the settings right! -David ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Thanks. I made a stupid mistake and thought that WEP was opt-in, not opt-out when setting up a base station, then didn't have any other problems, as the rest of the computers I set up with it all are running straight Airport. It sounds as though you have to enter the correct WEP password in hex format into the prefpane settings. The Wavelan silver card is working for everyone that everyone that I know of. Read the FAQ and if you still are having troubles let us know. Y On Thursday, November 22, 2001, at 01:11 AM, Ross L Hatton wrote: > I'm running an Orinoco silver in a Lombard 400 with 10.1.1 on it. I'm running an Orinoco silver in a Lombard 400 with 10.1.1 on it. Under WirelessDriver, the card does not seem to be picking up any signal from the base station. The card works fine when I boot into 9, but under 10, the WirelessConfig pane's signal level just sits at whatThe card works fine when I boot into 9, but under 10, the WirelessConfig pane's signal level just sits at what appears to be a minimum level, and the card's LED pattern corresponds to a working card that can't make a connection (power and signal blink on in unison once every 10 seconds). If I hit the "Apply" button in WirelessConfig, the LEDs do a double blink then return to the 10 second pattern. The Network pane is assigning 169.x.x.x numbers to the wireless interface. Thanks for any help, Ross Hatton |

Read and respond to this message at: http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=495207 By: kevinbg No encryption. Works fine in 9.2. No other networks in range. The network is a DSL with the Airport acting as a bridge to the network. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=495194 By: rob66778 OS X will use both interfaces at the same time, picking the one it thinks has the lowest number of hops and/or lower latency... If you're having trouble getting it to work over the wireless link, we can probably help you with that. How is your network configured? Is encryption turn on? Are there other networks in range? -Rob ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=495189 By: kevinbg Thanks for all your hard work! I'm using the Skyline 11mps card in a 333mHz Lombard (Bronze) Powerbook with an Apple Airport base station bridging to the ethernet network. Installs properly, signal strong, preference pane there BUT despite selecting ethernet adapter (en1) the network insists on using the built-in ethernet to access the net. I've tried rebooting (and even reinstalling) without the cable attached and that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=495152 By: rob66778 There are 2 small problems with the mailing list setup... 1) We will still have to log into sourceforge to reply to postings done via the website forum. Hopefully, by changing the link on the homepage, these will slowly be switched over to the mailing list. 2) postings to the list by non-list members are held for administrator approval. I'm going to make sure that all current project members have access to approve posts, but it means that people seeking quicker answers will have to subscribe to the list if they don't want to wait for one of us to give it the go ahead... -Rob ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
