I have successfully used a Wi-Linx (now defunct) WL-205 card, which is a relabeled Gemtek WL-205 card. FCC ID MXF-WL205. I wasn't able to test WEP support. |

i'm not sure what this /Library/PreferencePanes directory is supposed to point to. when i plug the card in, it stays off. no led's come up or anything. i have the "turn card off" option in the menu, but it doesnt appear to do anything. rebooting and removing/replacing the card does not help the situation. i have an onboard airport card, im trying to do this to see if i can get some better reception. this card was confirmed working in a dell mumble laptop yesterday, and in a thinkpad some months ago. thanks for your help all. alex [scorch:~] alex% ./Troubleshooting\ Info.command ### system info ProductName: Mac OS X ProductVersion: 10.2.3 BuildVersion: 6G30 Darwin scorch 6.3 Darwin Kernel Version 6.3: Sat Dec 14 03:11:25 PST 2002; root:xnu/xnu-344.23.obj~4/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh powerpc ppc7400 ### wireless driver files installed drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 102 Nov 6 01:04 IOPCCardFamily.kext ls: /Library/PreferencePanes: No such file or directory 2002-12-31 11:49:35.434 defaults[538] The domain/default pair of (loginwindow, AutoLaunchedApplicationDictionary) does not exist ### wirelesscard info | | "VersionOneInfo" = ("Lucent Technologies","WaveLAN/IEEE","Version 01.01","") | | +-o pccard156,2@0,0 <class IOPCCard16Device> | | "IOName" = "pccard156,2" ### network info lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::230:65ff:fe1a:4589%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 inet 10.1.2.2 netmask 0xffff0000 broadcast 10.1.255.255 ether 00:30:65:1a:45:89 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect en0: flags=8822<BROADCAST,SMART,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 tunnel inet --> ether 00:30:65:bd:e8:a6 ### wd command line tool status 2002-12-31 11:49:39.242 WirelessConfig[545] Iterations: 0 WirelessDriver: Couldn't find a WirelessDriver service in registry - is the card loaded? Hi, everyone. My name is Tee and i'm upgrading my desktop Mac from 9 to OX X.2. So far, so good...but I downloaded the OS X driver for the Farallon SkyLINE 11 Mbps Wireless card and I'm coming up with nothing. On installing the driver, I did get a "Wireless Config" pop up in the "Other" category of "System Preferences", but I did not get the "Ethernet Adaptor" option in the "Network". So I'm at a loss as to what I need to do. I did check the FAQ page and found that OS X.2 issues are resolved and that there is basic support (which is all I need as I'm trying to get my card to pick up a signal from a router for cable modem connection), but I'm missing a step somewhere. Any ideas? Again, here are the stats: OS: Mac Version 10.2 Card: Farallon SkyLINE 11 Mbps Wireless Installation partially successful. Have option for Wireless Config in System Preferences, but do not have option for "Ethernet Adaptor". Thanks in advance for any advice or help here, Tee Morris Imagine That! Studios |

Use Pacifist to install the b5 driver. The b5 installer is broken=20 anyway, it installs the drivers in the wrong place so Pacifist is the=20 best way to install it in the correct place. The kext file should be=20 installed in /System/Library/Extensions/ the prefpane in=20 /Library/PreferencePanes/. As I said before Archive and install is the best way to install Jaguar=20= so you should install the b5 driver after you have installed Jaguar. //Rob On s=F6ndag, dec 29, 2002, at 10:04 Europe/Stockholm, Dale Steele wrote: > Hi again. I have has success using a Sohoware NetBlaster II Wireless PC Card unencrypted on OSX 10.2.3 on a Lombard G3 333. After installing the 5.1 beta package, I used the modifications to /System/Library/Extensions/WirelessDriver.kext/Contents/Info.plist previously posted to the list. I needed to delete /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and /System/Library/Extensions.mkext to get it to work. Since I did not choose to install OS9, I deleted these files in single user mode, and it seemed to do the job. I am using the Sohoware 802.11b basestation, and have no trouble web browsing with Chimera or using the mail client native to Jaguar. Before I did the modofications to the default installation, en1 would not appear in the Network preferences pane, and running WirelessConfig from the command line produced and error message complaining that it couldn't find a wireless driver service in the registry. Thanks again to the developers, and to those who posted the fixes mentioned above. I am elated to be able to run 802.11b on my powerbook now! -Kurt J. |

Hi listers: I am running 10.15 on my 300 Mhz G3 powerbook and the version of driver I have had installed for some time now seems to work fine in either OSX or 9.2.2. So here's my question. Santa has been good and brought Jaguar home! Do I need to upgrade my wireless driver either now or after installing 10.2? I certainly don't want to loose any of my current capabilities. Anxiously awaiting word before I install. Thanks, Dale |

Dear all, I'm trying to use an Intel 2011 PC Card on my G4 TI. When I plug the card, I see en1 with ifconfig on terminal. But the mac address is 00:00:00:00:00:00. On the upper right corner of the Mac OS X screen, I have an option To activate the card, when I activate it, I cant see the card anymore with ifconfig. That's why I wonder if my card is supported by the driver! Has anyone any idea? Thanks to all. Benoit. |

Hi I bought a Netgear router and MA401RA card today and have installed both these drivers and the ioxperts drivers (at different times) and was able to get the system to work once, but what I am noticing it that the card does not mount, so when I go to the little PCCARD icon in the menu bar it says: Unknown Vendor, Unknown Card Type. and gives me the option of turning the power off. A couple times I noticed it came up with a very garbled name. The time I got it to work the name came up right (MA401RA (same as every other name posted here for my version of the Netgear card). Again I was able to make this all work for about 1/2 hour, till I had to reboot, then it wouldn't show the name of the card again, just Unknown Vendor etc. Can anyone help me with this, how can I get the card to come up, when I run the tech report from here it shows the card as | +-o pccard-no-cis@0,0 <class IOPCCard16Device> | "IONmae" = "pccard-no-cis" I know the router is fine, the pccard slot is good (my FW card works fine). So is it OSX, or do I have a bad PCCard from Netgear? The program and driver seem to be fine, it seems to be more to do with getting the PCCARD name recognized. Thanks Tony Dehnke |

Hi, I am wondering when and if Appletalk printing is to be supported by this driver. Also, I do not know that this has anything to do with our beloved open source wireless driver, but I am submitting it just in case someone else has seen it also: I am running a 384M PMG3 Wallstreet (266M), which has been absolutely solid since 10.1. Now, as of 10.2.3 I have seen a pattern of kernel panics, when logging out. This has happened with all users and no less then 5 times since updating a week ago or so... The crash log shows nothing... I do not use any third party add ons aside from Timbuktu, and the wireless driver. Ideas, suggestions or thoughts appreciated. Thanks again for the Wireless driver, it really is a needed and super useful addition. Thanks, Marty |

Hello, I have a powerbook G3 series @ 233mhz. Im running X.1.5 and I have installed the wireless driver for it. I have the orinoco silver wireless card. I can access the internet fine with the wireless, but I can't connect to my desktop! I have tried the afp://IP address and I have the built in ethernet port disabled in active network ports under the network control panel. However, if i re-enable the ethernet port as active, and plug into the switch on the wireless router itself, I can access my desktop computer using either the afp://ipaddress or usinng the go--->connect to server--->appletalk browse feature. How can i access my desktop from my powerbook on a wireless network! Is there something I am forgetting? Oh yes, I don't have a airport basestation, i have a D-link 614+. When I called D-link they said that it shoud work, and sence it wasn't a problem with their hardware, they coudln't help me. any help would be greatly appreciated. -alex |

I just wanted to let you know that I am happily using Mac OS X 10.2 on a PowerBook 2400 (G3 upgraded), with a Skyline 11 Mbps, thanks to WirelessDriver (b5). I was able to install 10.2 with the assistance of XPostFacto (http://eshop.macsales.com/osxcenter/xpostfacto), and some things work, and some things don't (for example, I can't sleep). With an earlier version of XPostFacto and 10.1.5, WirelessDriver (b4) would kernel panic on startup, so this is a dramatic improvement. I may not use it every day, but at least I know I have the lightest wireless Mac running OS X... Nice work! Ivan Drucker New York |

I had a problem with my PB and accessing some https sites, sending emails and accessing Software Update when I used the WLan card. The connection always timed out. It worked great accessing everything when I connected the DSL modem straight to the PB. I use a Cube as a software airbase station. The solution was to change MTU setting on en1 on the PB to 1492. Standard value is 1500 when I changed it to 1492 by typing sudo ipconfig en1 mtu 1492 in the terminal everything worked just like on the Cube. Maybe this should be added to the FAQ for people that have problem connecting to some sites? Now the drivers works great! I have a 400Mhz G3 PowerBook (Lombard), OS X 10.2.3 and an EPox WCL-11 WLan card, using b5 Wireless driver. //Rob -- To be is to do. - Socrates To do is to be. - Sartre Do be do be do. - Sinatra |
