Hello -- Can anyone recommend an exact model card and manufacturer for getting 802.11b working on an Apple G3 PowerBook 400 mhz (generally referred to as the "Pismo" model) running Mac OS 9.2.2. I have tried an "ORiNOCO 11b Client PC Card" <http://www.proxim.com/products/wifi/client/11bpccard/index.html> and although the driver installs and reports a successful installation, the application that provides connectivity to base stations and manages the connection reports that the PC card is not installed. I have been unable to connect to a Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router (BEFW11S4). Can anyone provide a recommendation for a card they know works with OS 9 and the linksys wireless router? I have a titanium powerbook 500 mhz with OS X that connects to the Linksys wireless router without any problem. Thanks! -Todd |

I just installed the CVS version of the wireless driver, and after adding the card info to the driver, I am able to use my Proxim Harmony 802.11b card on my wireless net. here is the pertinent ioreg -l info on the card ioreg -l | grep VersionOneInfo: "VersionOneInfo" = ("PROXIM", "Harmony 802.11b/LAN PC CARD","") ioreg -l | grep pccard: "IOName" = "pccard126,8000" I was able to get this card cheap on eBay (under $20). I haven't tested everyhting, but I do know it will talk to my wireless router, and through that to my other 5 computers and the Internet. Hope this helps somebody else who has this card. Thanks for the great driver, it has definitely helped me, since my Bronze-keyboard PB has a non-functioning built-in ethernet port, and there is no support for any of the wired pc cards that I have on hand. |

Has anyone had any success with the Linksys WPC11 version 4? The driver installs but fails to register. Interestingly enough, the following command returns nothing: ioreg -l | grep pccard But, the other command returns the following: ioreg -l | grep VersionOneInfo | | "VersionOneInfo" = ("Realtek","Rtl8139") Please help! Thanks! Robert |

will there every be a new version of the driver? its been oooh soo long? i have yet to install it on Panther, I don't want to mess with the system unless I'm sure it would work? possibly an easier method to change networks instead of restarting or re-sleeping.? thanks, dk On Nov 8, 2003, at 1:34 PM, <rat...@ti...> wrote: > Anyone got the Wireless Driver to work with the DWL -122 (d-link) > wireless > usb card ? > > I tried but it wasn't recognized.. > > The DWL- Is based on prism though. > > Greets > Arnout Symoens > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email sponsored by: ApacheCon 2003, > 16-19 November in Las Vegas. Has anyone gotten a PRISM 2.5 based card of any brand to work with the wireless driver? If so, I would be interested to hear what brand and what, if anything special, you had to do to get it to work and how well it works (WEP?). Has anyone successfully gotten the wireless driver to recognize the SMC 2532W-B wireless card? I have had good, but not perfect results since upgrading to Panther. I did a clean install of Panther (wanted to tidy up some cruft) and reinstalled the WirelessDriver on my TiG4 400. The driver installed properly on the first try (I've never had the issues some people have with the installer) and I was online quickly. I use static info in my Network control panel, not DHCP. I have been able to sleep and wake the PowerBook without kernel panic issues and the like. However, I do lose connectivity under one certain condition: Every morning, I pop out my wireless card and go to work, where I switch Locations to use ethernet (also static, not DHCP). When I come home again in the evening, I open the PowerBook, pop in the card & switch back to my wireless Location. Then I get a popup window from the system reading: IP Configuration 192.168.1.109 in use by 0:0:0:0:0:0 (yup, it really has all zeros for the MAC address) No matter what IP address I choose in the Network sys prefs, I get the message upon hitting Apply. This persists until I reboot. Anyone have any idea why this would come up or how to fix it? brian at joannou.net >Anybody know if this is compatible with OS X 10.3 or not? > >Thanks! > >- Chris > > > >------------------------------------------------------- >This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program. >Does SourceForge.net help you be more productive? Hi All, I have just moved to a new PB17", with Panther installed. Ran the install see, the Wireless configuration in the Control Panel, however when I try to add a Network interface, it only shows the In built ones. The installation seems to have created a EN1 interface, but it does not appear in Show Network interfaces. I am really keen to install a PCMCIA WIFI Card, a 200mwatt one, which has a Prism 2 Chipset, sorry for this currently used a SANDISK WIFI Card, so not sure if that is the problem. I was finally able to get it installed by skipping the combo installer (several reinstalls and reboots from that package yielded no results) and going straight to the individual installer for the driver itself (in the 'Installers' directory. Couldn't tell you if that's reproducible, or just dumb luck, but I'm back up and running. Hope someone's listening...doesn't look like there's been much activity on the list lately (unless the archives are just really, really out of date). I just did an 'Erase and Install' of Panther on my Lombard Powerbook. I was very surprised to see the WirelessDriver menu widget at the top of the screen after the install. However, I couldn't find or create a network connection for my Skyline card. So I downloaded the newest WirelessDriver disk image and installed it. The PrefPane shows up, but it's completely greyed out, and there's still no network interface for the card in the Network pane. Obviously the hardware is recognized. Can I manually create the eth(0) interface somewhere? Any help appreciated! - Jason |

The other problem with the Linksys WUSB11 is that it's an Atmel-based device, not PRISM-based. The wirelessdriver only works with PRISM devices right now. I do have plans for Atmel support, but am restricted from doing work with 802.11 USB stuff from some previous contract work, so some else will have to do that. There are a few Mac-compatible USB devices, such as the Macsense AeroPad. None of them have open source drivers that I know of. -Rob -- /* drunk.. fix later */ On 27-Oct-03, at 8:43 PM, Ryan Coleman wrote: >> Hi >> >> I'm trying to connect a Linksys WUSB11 wireless card to an imac G4, > running >> os x. >> After installing (no problems), and rebooting, nothing appears in the >> control panel (wireless panel under other, nore en0 devices under >> network) >> >> Any ideas ? > > Well, the WUSB only works in Windows. Well, the WUSB only works in Windows. I never got it to work on my book with any drivers (opensource, ioxperts, etc). I recommend buying an airport card for your iMac, or a Ethernet to Wireless bridge adapter (if you an enamored with Linksys). -- Ryan |

Have you tried reinstalling the wirelessdriver? I know that the installer as shipped would only worked every other time it was run, for whatever reason. I've since come up with some better ways to handle some of the issues I was trying to work around with the way I built the installer, so the next version should be better. I'm trying to get a nasty panther-enhanced bug out of a different project for work right now that has to be done on a tight deadline. Once that's done, I'll be spending time getting new releases and code for the wirelessdriver posted for everyone's amusement. With luck, that will start happening today. -Rob -- /* drunk.. fix later */ On 26-Oct-03, at 9:46 AM, Rob Terrell wrote: > I see from other posts that Wirelessdriver works with Panther...but has > anyone tried to install Wirelessdriver on top of Panther, as oppossed > to an > update install? > > I backed up & wiped my PB drive before installing Panther.
