Hi Jamie, Thanks for the tip. That worked but only for the specific PC that I was trying to send from. That implies that I would have to include every possible address that a client could login from, an impossible task, and self defeating, considering dialup access. Is there a way to invoke SMTP authentication again? I can't find that in the sendmail config. All I want to do is host domains that allow the user to log into his mail and send from his own remote client. thanks, Dan From: "Jamie Cameron" <jca...@we...> Subject: Re: [webmin-l] mail relay denied To: web...@li... Dan, Make sure that in the Sendmail module of Webmin on the Relay Domains page that the IP of the system you are sending from is listed .. otherwise you will get a relaying denied message like this. - Jamie On 28/Nov/2005 15:02 da...@so... wrote .. > I had to send this within Usermain because sendmail won't send outbound > messages from a remote client as follows: > > > Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following > reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail > relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module: > > 550 5.7.1 <bo...@we...>... I had to send this within Usermain because sendmail won't send outbound messages from a remote client as follows: Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module: 550 5.7.1 <bo...@we...>... Relaying denied Your original mail message follows: -------------------------------------------------------- X-PM-Identity: <Default> From: tes...@te... To: bo...@we... Date: Sun, 27 Nov 2005 21:46:07 -0600 MIME-Version: 1.0 Subject: none Message-ID: <438A291F.29232.17E2F8F7@localhost> Priority: normal X-mailer: Pegasus Mail for Windows (4.21c) Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Content-description: Mail message body boogy is an address on a different machine altogether and i'm trying to send it through a client on a workstation. This occurs no matter where I attempt to send the message. Is there a relay block in sendmail I'm missing? I've tried authenticating before sending and not. I've put the domains I'm trying to use to sendmail into the outgoing domains table, etc, to no avail. THis is a Slackware 10.0 machine and I had to throw M4 onto it just to put the generics table in. I get the same result out of a couplel mail clients. any help with the webmin config would be helpful, thanks, |

The /etc/fstab already define the user/group quota as follow : LABEL=/data /data ext3 grpquota,usrquota,dev,suid,exec,resgid=100 0 2 I'm sure the problem came out from the new version. I can use it while I uninstall the webmin-1.248 and install back the webmin-1.240 Thanks Jack Cheng _______________________________________ 褩洘 - Yahoo! Actually, the correct behaviour is for Webmin to run /etc/rc.d/nscd restart instead of just sending a HUP signal. I will do this in the next release .. Just querying the LDAP DB won't help, as the caching is not done by the LDAP server, but rather by the separate nscd process. - Jamie |

Hi, I'm using the disk quota module quite a long time, but I cannot use it any more while I upgrade webmin from 1.240 to 1.244 and even 1.248 Webmin shown: No local filesystems can support quotas. You can enable quotas for a filesystem in the Disk and Network Filesystems module. pls help me to fix the problem Thanks Jack Cheng _______________________________________ 褩洘 - Yahoo! I am still using Webmin 1.180 if that is a problem. I will upgrade it
to the latest version is official. I am using SuSE 9.1 and I am doing
an "/etc/rc.d/nscd" restart to work around the problem. According to
that script SIGHUP doesn't work with nscd (not sure if that is only on
SuSE 9.1 or elsewhere):
reload)
# nscd does not support SIGHUP, so fail.
echo -n "Reload Name Service Cache Daemon"
rc_failed 3
rc_status -v
;;
According to the above the LDAP Users module has probably never reloaded
the cache on SuSE 9.1.

Hi Jamie, The module itself works fine when I add a new LDAP user but the script it runs to configure the new user's Linux account after the user is created, broke a few days ago. I am not aware of anything being changed so I'm not sure what caused this problem. The shell script does an "su - $USERADMIN_USER" to become the new user to run gconftool2 and other things. For some reason I started getting an error that the new user I'm su'ing doesn't exist. It appears to be something to do with the name service cache daemon nscd. I have hacked my script to restart nscd from my script before I su to the new user - that fixes the problem for now. As a proper fix, shouldn't the webmin LDAP Users module do a flush of the NSCD cache whenever it adds or removes users to make sure everything is immediately in sync? Thanks Murray |

On closer examination: The module is setting --rsh=ssh *and* is using the --password-file= option. Doesn't the latter option only work with rsyncd operation? |

When I build Syncmin jobs, they fail to execute. When I run the command line manually, I see that a password prompt is being presented. What configuration considerations for sshd on the receiving system, or anything else for that matter, need I take into account to get around this? |

Hi Alan, Thanks for that information .. I didn't know about that --version option. I don't really see the need for that!!!!... MS Frontpage has already that... It's called frontpage global administration... ssh to your server and: check at the end of your httpd.conf, and you will seee if you have it!... if not, as root, you can do something like: /path-to/fpadmin -o setadminport -p port -s \ /path-to/httpd.conf -u user -p password (of course /path-to is the path to fpadmin or to httpd.conf, user is the user you want to have access to the global administration and password is the password, and port the port you want apache to use for the global admin... something like 2000 would work!... be sure that your firewall will allow for the use of the port and that the port is not used for something else) once you setup this, you can use your browser (works best with IE :( going to: http://yourserverip:port and login with the user/pass... you will see a list of all of your virtual domains, and an easy way to add FP extensions or to administer those that already have it. not sure how this could be done to use https (ie: use SSL), if you are not using SSL in the server you could use the same port that you defined for SSL, no idea if you can have SSL in more than one port! Hi as the originator of this thread i tried and here's the result RPM version [root@proteus2a admin]# /usr/sbin/dovecot --version 0.99.11 SRC version [root@proteus2a admin]# /usr/local/sbin/dovecot --version 1.0-stable So that's what's needed. as i built dovecot from source but the rpm is still there as is the original binary and .conf I'll leave it up to Jamie if he can add the necessary in the next release.
