Thanks for the response . It is working now. BTW I am using Fedora Core 2
and I did install perl-Crypt-UnixCrypt-1.0-1.1.fc2.dries.noarch.rpm and the
problem were solve.

Hi,
This can happen if your system doesn't support for crypt() system call,
which is the case for some Slackware releases. The work-around supported by
Webmin 1.240 is to install the Crypt::UnixCrypt Perl module .. older
releases would actually just silently ignore the problem!

Hi,

[webmin-l] MYSQL management in Virtualmin

Hi.

The management of MYSQL Database under users is Not working.

When you click the MYSQL module in webmin for a user who has been created
using Virtualmin, it asks for a password.

Now this was working fine before, i had checked it, so a recent update has
probably something to do with it. (I have no updated MYSQL)

In the virtualmin, the option to Edit Databases:

User can Create Database fine. It even shows up in the databases list. The
user cannot MANAGE the DB.

Now this is wierd also because the older Databases being accessed by the
Database Username and Password (the same as the users webmin user/pass) are
being accessed fine also.

Please look into this.

Not sure this is the problem Craig is having but here is something which
might help.
 
I've had this problem in the past - mainly after I've updated MySQL from
3.23 on Centos 3 builds to version 4.x.x .
 
The fix I use is to login to a shell and do the following :
 

 
mysql -uroot -p
 
Enter password or not if you have one set.


Welcome to the MySQL monitor.  Commands end with ; or \g.

Your MySQL connection id is 853886 to server version: 4.1.11-standard
 
Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.
 
mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR  <mailto:'root'@'localhost'> 'root'@'localhost' =
OLD_PASSWORD('newpassword');
 
That normally allows me to access the MySQL module on Webmin just fine
afterwards.
 
Also - I thought the Webmin module fix for this was to change the password
hashing option in the MySQL module config. I never actually did that myself
but remember a posting about it from a while back.

Virtualmin should hande full cPanel backups, and in fact they are preferred as they contain more information. If you are having trouble restoring one, let me know and I will take a look ... reverse-engineering another company's backup format is tricky!

Hi.

I just wanted to find out about the cpanel migration system. Does it do a Full Cpanel Back up (including aliases and Databases) or only the home directory backup ?

Because the home directory backup is pretty much useless. I tried doing it today and home directory only bckup works fine but the FULL cpanel backup does not. The full cpanel Backup includes the DBs and Aliases etc i think.

SECTION. but when i make a dns-query for our sub-domain (www.test.domain)
i=B9ll get the AUTHORITY SECTION. our old dns-server (quickdns) did this
automatically. our =B3old=B2 domains on the new server (webmin 1.240) are

[webmin-l] updating webmin in debian 'module proc does not exist' {Scanned}

Hi,

Ive come across this before (on a totaly diferant machine), and ended up 
reinstalling the machine to get around it, but i have a very minimal 
install of debian (running in a vserver).
installed webmin with :-
apt-get install webmin

it got the perl stuff etc. and installed a basic webmin (you only get 
the 'webmin' page)
now when i go into 'upgrade webmin' i get the error 'module proc does 
not exist' in the main part of the page
(im still getting the titles and header of the page as well as the 
footer area)
It just refuses to do an upgrade
this happened both with the debian version of webmin 1.180 and 1.230
running debian sarge, clean install within a vserver

any pointers?

also i noticed that (in the host for the verser) that webmin is binding 
as follows :-

Hi.

I just wanted to find out about the cpanel migration system. Does it do a
Full Cpanel Back up (including aliases and Databases) or only the home
directory backup ?

Because the home directory backup is pretty much useless. I tried doing it
today and home directory only bckup works fine but the FULL cpanel backup
does not. The full cpanel Backup includes the DBs and Aliases etc i think.

That could be another cause actually.. for MySQL 4.0, they changed the format
uses for encrypted passwords, which means that old clients can no longer connect.
To resolve this, you need to upgrade all your mysql packages (client and server), and
possibly the DBD::mysql Perl module as well..

This last bit lit a light bulb for me. There is something to do with
long and short passwords in mysql v4.0. The default mysql setting broke
whatever webmin was doing for a while, but then it was fixed by Jamie
(not sure when). Is it possible you have some settings out of whack there?

the mysql docs on their web site describe the issue fairly well... this
drove me nuts for a while too...

Hi Craig,
One common cause of MySQL login problems is the anonymous users. Try deleting
them in Webmin, assuming you can connect without a root password. Then try
turning the root password back on, and seeing if Webmin can login..

I 'downgraded' to 1.240 and still had the same problem so I went back to
1.246 for the benefit of the stuff in LDAP Users and Groups.

I did manage to get it to work...as long as there is no password for
root...I'm functional. Perhaps I will try to back it all up, use webmin
to insert the password for root and then see if webmin can access it but
I can't think of a reason why I can't set the password with mysqldadmin
and then login via webmin...I used to always do it that way (mysql-3.x)

Perhaps Dovecot is not configured to listen on the POP3 port? In the latest version of Webmin there is a dovecot module, and under its first icon you can select which protocols are in use. Most likely IMAP is selected, but POP3 is not.

[webmin-l] Samba mount retry errors

I have not used Samba before in any form. I have just received a Buffalo 
Terabyte NAS and have it running pretty well. I am using webmin to make the 
mounts on my Tao 1 Update 6 machines.

There appears to be a sleep mode or something associated with this mount, as 
whenever a machine with this mount on it is used, I get the following errors 
on the console and/or in my message log and then a small wait period :

All is fine after the last retry succeeds. The kernel is 2.4.21-37, BTW.

Is there something I should be setting up somewhere to avoid this latency 
problem, or is this normal for Samba mounts?

The mount command shows:

//trigabyte.cnpapers.net/mondo on /trigabyte type smbfs (0)

I have heard that smbfs does not work on the Tao 4 machines elsewhere, and 
wonder if this is similar on Update 6.

Just wondering if anyone has experience using webmin on the flavor of 
everything mentioned, or know a fix in general.

[webmin-l] Postfix Errors ?

Here is the basic problem. When i add users for Mail under any virtual
server, they cant receive any mails. The error is Diagnostic-Code:
X-Postfix; User unknown in virtual alias table

Help ? Here is details of steps i took, :

Worth Mentioning ... i have address Masquerading ON to $mydomain anf other
than that i dont think i havr touched anything at all.

I wanted to know the workings of Postfix under Webmin / Virtualmin Pro.

The Scenario is this.

I added a Virtual Server under the name :

foo.com <http://foo.com>

Username Created: foo

Then i added a sub server owned by the user foo as

subfoo.com <http://subfoo.com>

So far so good. Then i put a catch all (ALL MAILBOXES) in the email Aliases
under foo.com <http://foo.com> to redirect to

Now i need a an email under the domain subfoo.com <http://subfoo.com> so i
create an email user

[webmin-l] issues that may be outstanding

Just installed a new server - CentOS 4 and did have an issue - installed
from tarball if that matters.  Webmin 1.246 (development version)

Went to LDAP Users and Groups - clicked the link to download and install
Net::LDAP and perl went into a race condition and I had to kill it off.

Since I had rpmforge repository installed, I fixed this by 'yum install
perl-Net-LDAP' and it now works. But this does suggest that the same
race conditions that I was experiencing on my system is not a fluke of
mis-management of my system but something funky happening with the perl
5.8.5 on CentOS 4 (probably upstream on RHEL 4)
