Hi Doug, These settings come from the server templates, which can be edited by clicking on the Server Templates icon in Virtualmin, and then on the Default Template link. On the page that appears is a section for the logrotate directives.. - Jamie |

How do I configure the default logrotate options for new virtual servers? I've been through the Virtualmin module, the Apache module, and the Logrotate module, but can seem to figure it out. When I create a new virtual server, a logrotate entry for it's Apache logs is created in /etc/logrotate.d. That entry includes (for example) "rotate 5". The logrotate default is "rotate 4". So where are these specific virtual server options, like "rotate 5", coming from? Thanks for any help, Doug |

Looking at the code, I see that the "Reject with ICMP code" field appears for rules that are part of the chains INPUT, OUTPUT, FORWARD. The rules in question are part of a custom chain named "NFS-Input", therefore the "Reject with ICMP code" field does not appear. Dave I -----Original Message----- From: web...@li... Actually, the problem is not *completely* beyond the scope of Webmin. Everything in our iptables file is hunky-dory until, during our upgrade process, an 'server iptables save' command is used. This command appears to append '--reject-with icmp-port-unreachable' to the end of any REJECT rules that do not have already have a --reject-with argument. Webmin, it appears, does not provide any way to edit this argument. When the rule is changed back to ACCEPT, it maintains the --reject-with argument even though it no longer applies. I guess this could be considered a Webmin bug, or maybe just a lack of functionality. Any ideas for a work-around (beyond dropping the affected rules and recreating them manually)? You have a couple of options. First if only one DB is in question just go to virtualmin and deselect MySQL in the admin setup for the domain and that will clear the associations. If the domain has more than one DB go to the domain admin and EDIT the DB. Recreate the DB in question, it will complain about duplicate entries but it does in fact recreate the DB. Then remove the DB through the domain admin EDIT DATABASES function and it will be gone. > > Every time an account is created within virtualmin, a database is also created. Hi, Actually Webmin didn't have a setting for holding a session in ProFTP. the command is: <Global> </Global> #TimeoutIdle 999 TimeoutNoTransfer 999 The timeoutidle command seemingly has no effect on keeping an idle FTP session open. Hi Ryan, I think you wnat to installa a webmin cluster service, which really means that you have multiple webmin servers running as one face to the = customer. A real cluster. I never tried this before, but when it comes to a failover system and you loose one webmin server for your clients, where do your customers get = their eMails from during this period? So if you already have one server going why not do a complete backup of = the system and try to cluster your machines? If not - I'm lost. Hi Ryan the other problem to consider with your proposed set-up is how your customers will collect their e-mail if it's on the back-up server i.e. if main server is down for an hour and all e-mails go to back-up server how do customers collect e-mails - as they will probably only be using 1 pop account and outlook express which will be looking to collect from mail.domain.tld both servers will have a mail.domain.tld - but the customers mail software will only look at the "live" server i've got a set-up where e-mails are queued on the back-up server until the main server goes live again then the main server accepts the back-up server's mail queue this obviously means that the customer can't get any new e-mails whilst the main server is down - but none should bounce back either SSL domains with their own IP numbers need a way of accepting the back-up server's extra IP numbers as well virtulamin does most things - but i've not seen how it can do the above i paid a lot for a customised failover system as i'm not a techie but it does what i require if you want the details of the company i use let me know Regards Martyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "RYAN M. vAN GINNEKEN" <lu...@co...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2006 2:30 PM Subject: [webmin-l] My Plan > Here is my rough plan I have two servers in different remote locations > both running virtualmin. Here is my rough plan I have two servers in different remote locations both running virtualmin. What i would like to do is have complete redundancy on both and use some sort of round robin dns to take over if one site goes down. Seems like virtualmin has all the tools but it is also very new to me. I already have things setup on one server the way i liked before installing webmin lets call it master. Phase one is give control of all existing virtual sites to webmin on master sever. During the import process webmin seems to always want to set the ipaddress this is not portable enough for me. Also i am have some ip issues with my isp right now and need to be able to change in the future. Ideally I wish virtualmin to be able to use the *:80 setting for all virtual server but it keep using an ip address. How do i achieve this. unfinished____ Backup/move all virtual servers once per day to the slave. clash as user already exists? Edit dns records to use some sort of round robin. -- Computer King/CaNMail http://www.computerking.ca http://www.canmail.org Sales, Service, and Hosting Email, Data, and Web Packages Ask about web design specials Affiliates http://www.computerking.ca/pages/links/affiliates/affiliates.htm Maybe Computer Science should be in the College of Theology. -- R. Hi,
Yes, the module can also be used when running Webmin under Apache, as lon=
g as you aren't running in under a sub-directory like http://yourserver/w=
ebmin/ .
That error you saw is a bug in Webmin, which will be fixed in the next re=
lease..

Look at the "Webmin Servers Index" module under the Webmin category. You can add all of your servers there, provide the login information and then click any one of them to login and have full Webmin access. Best, John Hinton |

Hi Noc,
You can use the Webmin Servers Index module to do this. In it you can cre=
ate an entry for each of your servers, and if the username and password a=
re specified you can login to those servers by just clicking on an icon.

Let's see, Line 42: -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p tcp -m tcp -m state --dport 25 --state NEW -j ACCEPT --reject-with icmp-port-unreachable I must say, that looks odd. I have no idea where that --reject-with came from. Looking at the Webmin Action Logs, the file diffs do NOT show that being added. Looks like tehre must be a problem beyond the scope of Webmin.
