[webmin-l] 2nd Edition of book?

Jamie,

Any thoughts of doing a 2nd edition of your book?
I was thinking of ordering it, but it's a couple years and many features old...
If a new version is coming, I'd rather get that...

Also, why is there a 1 to 3 week wait to ship it?

1.- re sorting: is the sort by arrival the default??? and then, if 
somebody sorts by name... will it stay that way until the "reset sorting" 
is clicked? (even after logout?)

2.- What I'm told is that both the sender and the receiver are using 
usermin, in the same server!!!!... in any case, both sender and receivers 
are in Argentina, and the server is set up with timezone: 
America/Buenos_Aires.

(btw... Mike in a previous e-mail.. also seems to have a problem with 
usermin and the time... this was his posts:

I see this in the preferences for the read mail module:

Timezone for date displays 	 System default    (text box)

what you are supposed to put in the textbox area??? (AR??? for example???)

Yay.. my idea reached coolness status; perhaps it'll make it onto the list. I wish my Perl knowledge was more up to scratch, I'd be happy to contribute code/modules; but I'm a C/C++/ASM/PHP dude :-)

These are the three headers required:

MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

This may be a timezone-related issue. Is the email your clients receive
sent from a user in a different timezone (such as from the US east coast
to the west) ?

Yes - click on the Reset Sorting link at the top of the mail list.

shows the time as 3 hours "early" that was sent... (for example... the 
mail is sent at 12:00 pm AR, but in Usermin they see *before they open the 
mail* 9:00 am).

I could not reproduce the problem, and I'm wondering if it could be 
browser dependent (don't not why should be that way... but I wonder ;)

date/time... Because of the problem described in 1, for those clients that 
decided a "short" page, sometimes the new mail would be in "previous 
pages". In other words, usermin is sorting the mail by date/time.

[webmin-l] Mail Server

I have seem to have lost my mail server :

The configured mail server is currently down, meaning that no email can be
received by virtual domain mailboxes. Click this button to start it.

When i start it, it gives no error, just loads the same page as normal but
still shows a RED X beside 'Start Mail Server'

I think this is to do with postfix? seems to have it everywhere when i do a
search, where should it realy be located for webmin to use?

I think i was messing with qmail , thinking I needed it to get mail to work.

and want to stick with virtualmin for doing all the work.

I Found the area you said for setting limit to file manager via webmin>
Usermin Configuration> Usermin Module Configuration.

Just to add, im asking about all the mods needed for mail because I get this
error trying to send mail to one of the users domain.
Remote host said: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed
rcpthosts;

Are these virtual server users created using Virtualmin, or manually in
the Webmin Users module? In the former case they should already be limited
to their home directories ... and in the latter case, you can restrict them
in the Webmin Users module by clicking on File Manager next to their login names.

into their usermin area, the file manager in 'other' is set to not let users
see/browse all of the hard drive.

I have managed to protect the prtftpd from this but 'file manager' in a
users area is fully open to all of the drive.

How big is the difference? If it is an excact number of hours, you may be
seeing a timezone problem..

I can tell you, ubuntu desktop or ubuntu server (latest) both run Webmin, I
still have alot of stuff to make active as regards to more mods etc but so
far, ubuntu & Webmin work a treat.for me.

I install Michael Strand's simple theme as soon as I put webmin on - no
matter what machine it's on. I like everything being on one page with no
graphics. It's always the 2nd thing to install on my server - the 1st being
webmin or course.

Webmin installs fine on ubuntu 6.06 server. Don't try to use apt(itude) to get 
it though -- just download it from webmin.com.

That would be cool, but at the moment there is no module like this .. at
least not yet :)

Ok, I think I see what you mean here .. so your mail client needs to have
