Hello, I have managed to get virtualmin to work so I can start checking the functions... :-) But I still would be interested if someone is actually using it to maintain a shared hosting platform (and on tips and trics maybe). Actually, yes, I use both; I wasn't aware that the one I was trying to use under "system" was someone else's module. It started with me wondering why awstats appeared in both sections..... :\ Thanks, Mike |

Hello, I'm reading through lots of documentations on webmin/usermin and virtualmin, but as I don't get virtualmin to work on my fedora4 box, I don't know what I really can do with that (always get the error message when trying to "activate" virtualmin saying that my posfix has no virtual domain. Trying to create one in the postfix menue "Virtual Domains", I get an error message saying "Error while saving a mapping : No map file defined" although I just defined an existing file before in the form). So my question is more, did anyone of you use webmin (or virtualmin) to create a shared hosting platform which allows similar functionality as Confixx, Plesk, CPanel, VHCS, SysCP or whatever reseller/customer/enduser system? If yes, maybe the one can tell me what steps I have to go through which would make it a little easier :-) My requirement is not very high, I want to have a mail service (where I can create mailboxes without having to create a unix user for each), separate webspaces with separate accesses, some DNS configs, SSL... All that with the ease of a webapplication :-) Thank you for all helpful information... :-) LS -- GMX DSL-Flatrate 0,- Euro* - Überall, wo DSL verfügbar ist! On my server, the AWStats Logfile Analyzer is something like: http://www.myservername.com:10000/awstats When I click on a particular "view stats" link, it sends me to: http://www.myservername.com:10000/awstats/awstats.pl?config=somedomain.com&configdir=/etc/awstats Thanks, -Mike |

Next time you see one, run the command : strace -p $pid and email me the output. > >> which reminds me, it is quite hard to cluster-update webmin, because > you > >> limit this functionality to servers which are interconnected with the > >> "fast rpc mode" which seems to be in the end nothing more, as that i > >> need > >> to keep up some ports above 10000. now, i'm in the situation, that i > >> cannot open more than some 20 ports in the hardware firewall my provider > >> offers me and stupidely - i canot open ranges, so i cannot connect my > >> webmin servers "fast" in the webmin sense although the speed between > >> them > >> is 100mbit. couldn't you make this limitation optional? > > > > Sadly no .. only in fast mode can there be a persistent connection from > > the master to the slave, which is needed for the upgrade. > ok, as i see you send the update package from the master to the slave - > couldn't you create another update mode in which each clustered server > would get the signal "update now" as i do it now by hand? I guess it might be possible if each server downloads the updated tar.gz or RPM package itself, or reads it off an NFS shard that all servers have mounted. Do you usually have each Webmin server do an independent download? - Jamie |

Under System / AWStats Logfile Analyzer - click on "view" on the right for any particular log that is listed. Thanks, -MR |

In the sendmail module it would be nice to be able to limit what relay domains a user can edit. Kind regards Jeppe Uhd - NX |

Would it be possible to add anchor tags to the Users and Groups list page: - at the top of the users list to jump to the start of the Groups list - at the top of the groups list to jump to the start of the Users list This would save a lot of scrolling, make it easier to find the groups list. Would it be possible to add the search box (that appears when you configure it to only show X users but you have X+Y users) to the top of the list of users? That way, you get both the long list of users so you can scroll around and compare account entries, and you can just jump into the details of a single user (without having to use Edit -> Find in the browser, then clicking on the account)? Get the best of both worlds, kind of thing. And, finally, would it be possible to add "Delete Selected", "Disable Selected", and "Enabled Selected" buttons to the top of the users list? And the same with the buttons for the groups list, add a copy of them to the top of the list? That last one will save a lot of frustration for our users as they select a bunch of users, hit End, then click Delete, and get an error message that no groups were selected. :) Thanks. -- Freddie Cash, LPIC-2 CCNT CCLP Network Support Technician School District 73 (250) 377-HELP [377-4357] fca...@sd... |

Something screwy seems to be up with awstats since I upgraded to the newest release of virtualmin. Anyone know of a resource where I can figure out how to use it? When I click on to "view" the stats reports, I "Error - File not found" - and this is for reports I was already running. It looks like I have to reconfigure awstats somehow...? Thanks, MR |

Sadly no .. only in fast mode can there be a persistent connection from the master to the slave, which is needed for the upgrade. - Jamie |

Why not just simply temporarily change the setting on the target machine to include the domain name in the username, do the restore, then change it back if you like? - Jamie |
