This is actually a bug in Webmin - the Perl Modules installation code
assumes that you will use /tmp/.webmin as your temp files directory, regardless
of the configuration on the Advanced Options page!

I will fix this in the next release.. or to work around it now, you can
edit the file cpan/install.cgi under the Webmin root directory (tyically
/usr/libexec/webmin) and change the line containing /tmp/.webmin to /var/.webmin .

[webmin-l] Problem installing perl modules

First attempt today at installing a perl module from Webmin. It failed, though the reason 
seemed clear enough: my /tmp directory is mounted noexec and the build script failed. So I 
set a different tmp directory (/var/.webmin) in Webmin Configuration -> Advanced Options. 
Also, I set the same tmp dir for "Perl Modules" in "Per-module temporary directories".
	
Then I retried the perl module installation (I'm trying to install File::Tail for which 
Time::HiRes is a prerequisite). I got this output in Webmin:

Yup - that's where it was.

I found that it can also be changed under Webmin Users, select 
individual user and change Personal theme.

Are you sure you haven't got an override set for your current login?
This can be done in the Change Language and Theme module.

I have 2 Nic installed on Whitebox Linux EL3

The 2 Nics card are plug with 2 RJ45 connected directly to ADSL modem
and totally seperate ISP with 2 different IP addresses.

Both Nic cards are configured and up

eth0 211.xx.xxx.xx
eth1 60.xx.xx.xxx

what i am trying to accomplished is, whenever there is a request to WAN =
IP
address, 203.114.xx.xxx it will use pass and route thru eth1

and when request to WAN IP 202.76.xxx.xxx it will pass the route thru =
eth0


203.114.xx.xxx  ---> 60.xx.xx.xxx
202.76.xxx.xxx  ---> 211.xx.xx.xxx

i tries using 'Networking" "Network Configuration" and "Routing and =
Gateways" in webmin 1.320
it just wont work

any help is highly appreciated

If you enable an Apache module like this, it may be necessary to go
to Webmin's Apache Webserver module, click on Re-Configure Known Modules,
and click Configure. Then Virtualmin will realize that is installed.

It's not really a requirement, unless you configure Virtualmin to 
add Apache directives for suexec. This is done on the Server Templates
page, in the Apache website section, using the 'Automatically add appropriate
SuExec directive?' field.

Some older Virtualmin releases didn't check that mod_suexec was enabled
even if you requested it..

That's rather surprising - normally this is added to <virtualhost>
sections that need it, rather than globally. That must be something
special Mandrake does..

If you don't need suexec and have been running fine without it,
turn off the Apache module and configure Virtualmin on the Server Templates
page to not add suexec directives.

You're right, there isn't much point.. although it would get used if you
setup an autoreponder in the alias domain, as the location for the autoreply
text file.

There is no way to create user accounts in an alias domain, sorry. The only 
choices you have are :

1) Create it as a non-alias domain, and setup web page forwarding/redirects to
   forward all web traffic to the primary domain.
2) Create the POP3 account in the primary domain, and forward email from the alias.

Another thing to check is if you intentionally take down some service
and then re-run monitor.pl, does it update the status on the main page
of the module in Webmin? Before you do this, make sure you click on
Module Config first and change the 'Status to display in list' to
'From last scheduled check'.

But still manually running:

/etc/webmin/status/monitor.pl


Don't seems to try sending any email.  No  trace in /var/log/maillog

Is there any debug flag to monitor.pl?

The option that controls the username format has been moved - it is now
under Server Templates -> Default Settings -> Mail for domain ->
Format for usernames that include domain.

Go to the Read User Mail module, and make sure that on the Module Config page
the SMTP server to send email with is set correctly. If you run a local mail server,

Try the middle button usually works for me but that is a unix thing.

shellinabox is just what I wanted!!!

A couple of questions though .... I have stuff in my windows clipboard
that I have "cut" .... I have a vi session open in a shellinabox session,
how do I "paste" the contents into the vi session?  In SecureCrt, it's
"Shft-Ins".  Windows - "ctl-v" doesn't seem to work.

Is there a manual for shellinabox?

You're right, that is a bug! I have just released an update to the BIND
module at http://www.webmin.com/updates.html to fix it.
