Hi Dave,
Right now, the only way to do this is to create a Unix user with the same=
name as the Webmin user, and configure the Webmin user to use the 'Unix =
authentication' password mode.
Then, install the Authen::PAM perl module, and make sure /etc/pam.d/webmi=
n exists, then restart Webmin. Finally, set the expiration date of the Un=
ix user's password to the current date. When he logs into Webmin, he shou=
ld be prompted to change his password.
Perhaps in future I will add better support for password expiry to Webmin=
's own authentication system, so that PAM doesn't need to be involved.

Hello all once again. Over the last couple of months I've noticed the following issues. Was wondering if anyone had some ideas on how to work around them: 1.) Even though I currently have "Session Authentication" enabled and also have enabled "Auto-Logoff" after 30 minutes it doesn't appear to be working. If the users are idle looking at an email for 30 minutes or idle at the main windows for 30 minutes they do timeout like they should. However, if they are looking at their mailbox they never timeout. One of my techs believes its because the page is set to auto refresh every 120 seconds and that Usermin is interpreting the refresh as user interaction. I would like to find away for this not to happen anymore. 2.) I have Usermin setup to send mail via the sendmail executable which 98% of time works without incident. However, a few months ago there was a problem where users couldn't write to /dev/null. Usermin was not able to send emails, but reported to the user that it had. I worked out the /dev/null problem and thought this was over with, but found out this morning that we had a milter failing on our server which was telling all connecting servers "451 error 4.3.2 Try again later" Again usermin clients were sending email and not getting any indication that there was a problem. Those mails never left the server and they don't appear to be in the queue anymore. I was thinking about changing it so it actually connects to the server by port and not using the command but I don't know if thats a solution to this problem. Ideas anyone? As usual any help or ideas are greatly appreciated a head of time. Thanks all. -Jesse C. Smillie Gateway School District Monroeville, PA |

But you can't say every third day reliably .. even if you select the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th, 22nd, 25th, 28th and 31st of the month, this won't really be every 3rd day. - Jamie |

>From crontab(5): Step values can be used in conjunction with ranges. Following a range with ``/<number>'' specifies skips of the number's value through the range. For example, ``0-23/2'' can be used in the hours field to specify command execution every other hour (the alternative in the V7 standard is ``0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22''). Steps are also permitted after an asterisk, so if you want to say ``every two hours'', just use ``*/2''. Maybe I didn't explain it good enough, I hope the above shows what I mean :-) -joho |

I disagree; maybe I want similar but not identical settings? When cloning the default, it'd be good if the cloned settings used "this specific..: <string>", where the value is copied from the Default, instead of saying "Default" -- since that would be the main reason for cloning it. Just my two cents.. -joho |

Hmm.. VM has set-up the awstats schedule on a daily basis, whereas the log rotation is on a weekly basis.. and if I run the awstats generation manually for a virtual site, the stats seem to "double up" rather quickly, indicating that awstats cannot keep track of where it previously left of, thus generating duplicate stats. For the record, I tried adding this:
Command to run after making changes to a server: "chown -R $HOME/logs ${USER}.root", but that didn't seem to have any effect.
