You may be running into a new feature in Usermin for showing a progress bar during large file uploads, such as when attaching a file to an email. Does this prevent email from being sent? - Jamie |

Hello all once again. Hay I recently upgraded to Usermin 1.25 Monday night and now have a few users coming to me saying that when they attach documents to an email all is well until they click to send the email. At that point a little box pops up and says something about an error "@uptracker". They tell me the box is grayed and weird looking which being OS9 no surprise there. I looked on the server and basically for every user who reported this today I noticed 1 line in the running processes: /usr/local/usermin-1.250/uptracker.cgi Never quits or times out. Just keeps running. Any Ideas? The clients BTW are Mac OS 9.2.2 using IE 5.1.7. I have not been able to replicate this issue on any OS X or Windows machines as of currently. This is a new one to me. I know over the last few months IE on the Mac is having more and more problems with websites, but unfortunately 5.1.7 was the last version by Microsoft and to my knowledge the latest browser for OS9 period.... -Jesse |

Unfortunately, at the moment the file browser doesn't respect the directory restrictions for the module it is in .. instead, there are global settings which apply to all modules. That certainly is not supposed to happen .. and when testing again with the latest Usermin to make sure, it does set the correct ownership for me. However, I seem to recall an issue with Perl on the Mac in the past where the system call to change the current user silently fails, which causes this effect! Sadly, there is no solution, unless Apple or someone has made a fixed Perl available. - Jamie |

This may have already been covered before, but I couldn't find it when searching the archives, so my apologies if it has. I am having an issue with the Java based file manager for Usermin. When a user uploads a file it is uploaded as owned by root instead of the logged in user. The group is correct. I'm not sure if this is an issue with serving off of Mac OS X (I'm using 10.3.9) but using the standard upload-download module the files are uploaded as the correct logged in user/group. This occurs with Firefox & Safari on Mac and IE & Firefox on Windows. I'd appreciate any thoughts or ideas. Many Thanks. Sincerely, Chris Graves |

Ok, that explains it a bit more .. it seems that the problem is Webmin cannot create a new pseudo-tty. Is there any chance I could login to this box to debug this? I am guessing that FreeBSD 6.2 has changed something that breaks Webmin. - Jamie On 20/Feb/2007 05:24 Grant Peel wrote .. > Hi Jamie, > > Show Stack Trace has been enabled. > > Here is the out[ut when I tried to install SpeedyCGI > > Downloading > http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/H/HO/HORROCKS/CGI-SpeedyCGI-2.22.tar.gz > (151946 bytes) .. > Received 1024 bytes (0 %) > Received 15360 bytes (10 %) > Received 30720 bytes (20 %) > Received 46080 bytes (30 %) > Received 61440 bytes (40 %) > Received 76800 bytes (50 %) > Received 92160 bytes (60 %) > Received 106496 bytes (70 %) > Received 121856 bytes (80 %) > Received 137216 bytes (90 %) > Received 151946 bytes (100 %) > .. download complete. > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Failed to install module : Failed to open : No such file or directory > Call Stack Trace > File Line Function > /usr/local/webmin-1.320/proc/proc-lib.pl 316 proc::error > /usr/local/webmin-1.320/cpan/download.cgi 193 proc::pty_process_exec > (eval 8) 5 (eval) > /usr/local/webmin-1.320/miniserv.pl 1892 (eval) > /usr/local/webmin-1.320/miniserv.pl 642 miniserv::handle_request > > > -Grant > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Jamie Cameron" <jca...@we...> > To: "Grant Peel" <gp...@th...>; "Webmin users list" > <web...@li...> > Sent: Monday, February 19, 2007 1:18 PM > Subject: Re: [webmin-l] Webmin 1.320 Migration form FBSD 4.7 -> 6.2 > > > > Hi Grant, > > To help me debug this, go to the Webmin Configuration module, click on > > Advanced Options and set the 'Show stack trace for error messages?' option > > to 'Yes', they re-try the install. > > > > - Jamie > > > > On 19/Feb/2007 08:19 Grant Peel wrote .. > >> Hi Jamie, > >> > >> I got the interface working, while the /tmp/.webmin directory exists, > >> what > >> other directory might this be caused by? Hi Grant,
Do you have any socket= or bind= lines in miniserv.conf telling Webmin to listen on a specific IP address? If that IP doesn't exist or cannot be resolved on the new system, you may get this error... so try deleting those lines and starting it again.

Hi Jamie,
I have just tarred /usr/local/webmin-1.320 and /etc/webmin from an online production server to a replacement server running FreeBSD 6.2 and can't start miniserv.pl.
The server is currently at my office where there is no DNS running - simply connected to my router using ip 192.168.1.5
The error in the /var/log/webmin/miniserv.error is this:
"Bad arg length for socket::inet_ntoa, length is 5, should be 4 at /usr/local/webmin-1.320/miniserv.pl line 363
Is this a temporary error, i.e. do you think it will go away when connected to the production env?
I wanted to get webmin running so I can use it to add some perl modules etc.
-Grant

Well I wasn't suggesting that it just reboot the server. At present you have to go to Bootup Shutdown scroll to the bottom of the page, hit the restart or shutdown and then confirm that you really want to reboot. That's a lot to do to confirm that you want to restart the computer. ---------- Original Message ----------- From: John Hinton <web...@ew...> To: Webmin users list <web...@li...> Sent: Fri, 16 Feb 2007 16:54:10 -0500 Subject: Re: [webmin-l] Virtualmin Template Request > Vernon wrote: > > Not that I find that I have to reboot that often, but when I do need to reboot there > > is usually need to do it quickly. > > > > ---------- Original Message ----------- > > From: "Jamie Cameron" <jca...@we...> > > To: Webmin users list <web...@li...> > > Sent: Thu, 15 Feb 2007 21:13:56 -0800 (PST) > > Subject: Re: [webmin-l] Virtualmin Template Request > > > > > >> On 15/Feb/2007 13:57 Vernon wrote .. > >> > >>> Just a thought, but it would be nice if a reboot server option existed > >>> on the bottom > >>> on the left side under Logout. > >>> > >> Hopefully you aren't finding it necessary to reboot that often!! > >> I may add it on the right in the System Information section though. > >> > >> - Jamie > >> > I'd rather not have something so critical in a place so easy to > accidentally click. I'd have a reboot going on.. something that I only do after planning and something that only rarely is needed ever... like kernel updates. I'd hate to explain to a client that my cat rebooted their server in the middle of them FTPing up a whole new website or while in the middle of a mass emailing... yuck! Best, John Hinton |

I'm setting up an LDAP server, and I would like to use the LDAP module to do this. I have the module looking at my server, and it shows the correct dc, but when I try to add users, it tells me cn=name,dc=domain,dc=com Failed to save user : Failed to add user to LDAP database : invalid DN What am I doing wrong? Maybe I'm not using the exactly correct syntax when entering the username? What should the exact syntax be? I can't find any documentation on this module. |
